Subject: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Life Science Master Program

Dear Mahinur AKKAYA,

The Interdisciplinary Approaches to Life Science Master Program (“AIV” in its French acronym) of Paris Descartes and Paris Diderot Universities opens its doors for new applicants for the 2014/15 academic year. Deadline for application: 2 June 2014.

The program is designed for students from across the world, motivated by a high-level interdisciplinary training in English, regardless of their initial training (Biology, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine, Engineering…). A more detailed description of the Master is available on AIV web page (www.cri-paris.org/master-aiv/), as well as in the attached booklet and poster.

The 1st AIV year, named "Systems and Synthetic Biology", focuses on the fundamentals of Quantitative and Integrative Biology through intensive 1st semester courses and a long 2nd semester internship in a laboratory chosen by the student or in participation in our international Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) Paris Bettencourt student team, grand winners of the 2013 competition.

The 2nd year of the Master offers a unique approach of combining weekly collaborative course sessions with three internships throughout the year. Two track are possible: (i) General Interdisciplinary track which treats subjects across the different interfaces with Life Sciences (ii) a focused Systems and Synthetic Biology track.

Students may apply to either the 1st year or directly to the 2nd year program, depending on their previous experience.

We would greatly appreciate if you could propagate the information on our master to potential students by forwarding the attached files and hanging the poster in your corridors. Thank you for helping us developing this master by relaying this information as widely as possible.

Best regards,

Ariel Lindner and Pascal Hersen
