Subject: re: Glowing Plant project - please fwd to your iGEM students - Thanks!
Dear 2013 iGem Teams,
Today we launched the first synthetic biology KickStarter campaign, to create Glowing Plants!
The project wouldn't be possible without the amazing work of the 2010 iGEM team who found ways to make bacteria glow brighter than ever before. (http://2010.igem.org/Team:Cambridge)
I thought you'd like to see an example of how important iGEM projects are and how we can put your ground-breaking ideas into practice. Using this technology, one day we will be able to replace electric lighting with plants, but even in the near future we'll have awesome glowing gardens like in Avatar! It's also a great example of what you can do with Genome Compiler.
We'd love any help in publicizing the campaign – the more funds we raise, the brighter these plants will glow! I've pasted some links below for you to read & pass on (we would really appreciate it!!!)
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the project and any updates you have on your own projects!
Thanks and good luck with your projects!

Dear iGEM advisors,
I am in the process of writing interviews with industry biologists from all the companies using synthetic biology in their research. I thought it would be interesting to show your students what it's like working in industry, the different issues and opinions among industry biologists, and pieces of advice. There are also resources such as information on the best tools available and the biggest synbio news sources.
Please pass on this link and let me know if you have ideas for resources that would be useful for them, and it would be fantastic to hear from them directly too.
Hope the projects are going well - I can't wait to see what everyone has come up with!
All the best,
Jonny Serfaty
