I can't tell for sure if my original reply went out, but I was so moved by last night's meetup that I'm going to send my response again here so that others in the group are inspired to check out the notes and followup on the discussions...

Thank you for organizing this event Jake! I am so grateful I attended :)

Peter and Josh: This was, by far, the most impactful game retrospective I have ever seen. To bear your soul with such complete honesty, humility and self-reflection was so incredibly touching. Anyone who has ever tried to start a business, build a game, or have aspirations of founding their own game studio would do well to hear your story and learn from your experience. An absolute masterpiece... I'm still thinking about our conversations from last night and continue to find myself in sheer awe of your bravery and the impeccable delivery of your tale. The game dev industry is blessed to have folks like you a part of it, and I don't say this lightly. In an age where we are quickly moving towards AI powered tools and automation, your story is a powerful reminder of the human element involved in the creation of art and the trials and tribulations that make that art beautiful and meaningful. Thank you so much for sharing! <3

Much appreciated,

We were hoping to make the trip up north for this one, but had other stuff going on we couldn't reschedule :/ Sorry we missed it! Are there any materials (recording/slideshows/etc) available from the meeting?

Also, FYI, because I keep seeing some confusion about it, when you reply within gmail to the alert emails that come from these groups they only go to the post's author unless you "Reply All", which is the only option when replying right on the Google Group page itself (linked at the bottom of each alert email). If you visit the Google Groups page (https://groups.google.com/g/igda_utah), you can see which messages went out to everyone (the ones shown in the discussion).

Thanks Sam! I got an automated response back after using the reply all, saying it failed to deliver my message. I think that's because I'm registered to the group with my Gmail and my email client tried to send the message with "ro...@d20studios.com" . So let that be an extra note for anyone with multiple email addresses to use the one registered to group :P

Peter mentioned he was going to send the slide deck. Lot of good stuff in the deck, though it won't give the presentation its full-impact because so much of the value came in the story telling of how he and Josh delivered it and responded to questions. I strongly encouraged Peter to consider creating a video version of it and posting it on Youtube or something. It was that good. Like watching "Indie Game" the movie, but far more interesting and intense because it was a sincere reflection on failure, not success, and what can be learned from the difference between creating art and spreading positivity vs. building a business. It deserves a Netflix documentary.
