OK, guys. Next week's meeting will be the 6-month mark for the NOLA
chapter. For a new chapter in a city without any hardcore game
industry, I think we have been doing pretty good (at least I have
never had to sit in a meeting by myself). But I am sure we all know
we can do better.

So I am kicking off our new Google Group with a Request For Comments.
What's on your minds? What can we do better or differently around
here? Up to now, I've just been running with what has worked for me
in the past at other chapters. But that doesn;t mean that's how we
have to do things.

So throw in some ideas or comments and let's kick them around some.

To get things going, I would like to propose adding some more bodies
to running the chapter. So far I have kept things going with personal
stubborness. But what happens when one of my kids is sick on a
meeting night or something. I need some backup. Some folks who know
what's going on and can run a meeting without me. So, I propose we
add some structure to the chapter so that it survives beyond any given
member.

I would also like to see us doing better in the sponsorship
department. Almost everyone either has a day job or is a student.
You all need to pester your institutions into ponying up some food
money or door prizes or something. You have to approach it in such a
way that they see there is some value in it for them, and we need to
avoid going to the same well more than once a year -- but it can be
done. So you are all officially deputized to go out and seek some
sponsors.

What else can we do?
