Hi,

Will there be a new release of the pecl-igbinary package any time soon?

We deployed the latest version, 1.1.1 from http://pecl.php.net/package/igbinary and saw the seg fault issue which looks to have been fixed in https://github.com/igbinary/igbinary/commit/dda9edb0594e6fafdfce0653f2c33a49756110d1

Will there be an official release including this patch?

Thanks,

Graham.

I submitted the original bug, you can either patch it your self or switch to ArrayObject for the time being.

There also an option of using -dev build.

Thanks.

Thanks for that, Aleksey,

I'd seen that post and the instructions for building the package but we were hoping for a more official release, as per the 1.1.1 release on http://pecl.php.net/package/igbinary

The tags in the Github repo stop at 1.1.1 and don't have the 1.1.2-DEV release version mentioned in the article you linked to.

Thanks,
Graham.

Not sure I follow, the issue you mentioned is already fixed in master. All you have to do is pull it:

So one problem is that you go to the pecl site and download the latest igbinary release and it has the seg fault issue in it.

We're able to download the latest code from Github and build the RPM ourselves but it would be much better for us if someone looking after the project periodically made a decision and said, 'this is a new release'.

There are a lot of commits on the master branch since the release listed on the pecl site and since the last tag in Git. Are each of these a new release? Are each of these new minor versions, or just new releases of 1.1.1?

If this project won't issue a release as such, master is always stable and you just take the latest code from there then that's OK, we just need to be aware of that.

If there's going to be a new release soon then that's great; we can continue to use PHP serialize until then, or patch the current 1.1.1 release.

I hope that makes things clearer.

Thanks,
Graham.

Have you had any issues running the master branch? I have deployed it on multiple web sites that recieve and handle over 10 million requests per week without any issues.

You can always use ArrayObject or apply the patch for the bug in question...

Hello! :)

Yes, a release is indeed long overdue. If at all possible I'll push one this week.
