Asa child, Park Hoon (Lee Jong-suk) and his father Park Cheol, a well-known surgeon (Kim Sang-joong) were sent to North Korea to conduct an open-heart surgery on Kim Ill Sung to prevent the Second Korean War. After being sent to North Korea, Park Hoon and his father were denied access to go back to South Korea. It is revealed that Park Cheol is suing the Myungwoo University Hospital for a serious malpractice case and Park Cheol's friend, Dr Park Choi wanted to take responsibility. However, the director of the Hospital Oh did not want the malpractice case to become public which will ruin the hospital's reputation. As the result, he conspired with Jang Seok-joo, a national security official to make Park Cheol and his son trapped in North Korea. In North Korea, Park Hoon was trained to become a doctor by his father who was already a famous doctor. He became a genius cardiothoracic surgeon after attending medical school in North Korea while moonlighting as a smuggler, selling South Korea K-pop DVD. There, he fell deeply in love with Song Jae-hee (Jin Se-yeon). After Park Hoon's father died, he tried to flee to South Korea with Jae-hee, but lost contact with her in the end. Park Hoon was able to flee to South Korea alone.

In South Korea, Park Hoon begins to work as doctor in a top hospital Myungwoo University Hospital. Meanwhile, he found a girl that looks exactly like Jae-hee, Doctor Han Seung-hee, who claims not to know Park Hoon. At the same time, Lee Sung-hoon, a leading doctor in the hospital plans his revenge against the institution for the death of his father in the malpractice case 10 years ago.

In China, the online streaming rights for drama were sold for $80,000 per episode and the drama was made available for online streaming on both Youku and Tudou where it received 330 million and 50 million views, respectively. As of July 7, 2014 it has been streamed close to 400 million times.[3] Due to the drama's success in China there are currently plans to edit the drama into a film and release it theatrically exclusively in China with an alternate ending.[4][5][6] According to the website DailyNK, which reports on North Korea-related issues, the drama was highly popular among North Korean youth who would obtain it illegally at the jangmadang (markets).[7]

after ep 13n14 my heart goes out to her(jae hee)the moment when hoon didnt take the towel and ask her to go out instead i am so frustrated as jae hee. i know she means well when she ask hoon to not do the surgery but i can also understand park hoon why he has to. it could ruin their relationship if that lady died. jae hee must very affected by hoons behaviour towards her thats why maybe when she found out hoons mom's location she take her so that they cant threaten hoon by using his mom and he doesnt have to be involve but to continue his path to be a good doctor. im scared for jh life after she said that to ph esp now the pm knows her real identity. but at least now ph knows jh is in great danger he will fight head to head with jaejoon to be the operating surgeon for the president. i really like when hoon told jae hee his willingness to win or rather he wants to win because he has to and he wants to be with her in the operating room. btw i cant wait any longer when are they going to announce to the whole nation that our lovely jae hee is the woman whom park hoon loves. maybe not the whole nation but just that particular house. another thing is i love hoon so much that i want him to have a healthy meals evryday ,,can he just move in jae hee's house?is that too much to ask?

@icassiopeia_pim I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can base on my interpretation of the drama so far.

1.) Did JH herself choose to be involved in this plan becauce she wants to help Hoon? or she was chosen to be involved because Agent Cha knows that she loves Hoon? or she was chosen to be involved because she has JH face and Agent Cha did not know that she is real JH?Regarding how JH got involve, that part has not been reveal yet (Let's hope it gets reveal in episode 15). All we know so far is that JH and Comrade Cha are the representing North Korean agents brought in to help the PM overthrow the president. Maybe Comrade Cha is involve because he has history with Hoon and has a score to settle with Hoon too. He is looking to save face and regain his honor back in this mission. With JH, it will be interesting to learn how she volunteer herself for the mission. That part of her history as a spy is still very murky.

2.) Did Agent Cha know that she is JH? or he thought she was just look alike?Up until episode 14, Agent Cha had always thought Jae Hee was Han Seung Hee, a different person with the same face as Jae Hee. I think he thought she was really Han Seung Hee pretending to fool Hoon into believing she was a fake Jae Hee. Remember, Seung Hee's mission was to trick Hoon into believing she was Jae Hee and to influence him to do the North Korean/PM's bidding. They know how much Hoon loves Jae Hee from the Budapest incident and they thought they could use fake Jae Hee card to control Hoon. 3.) If Agent Cha really believed that she is Seunghee, how come he did not doubt her when she always help Hoon out of danger?The North Korean plan was to always use Hoon - they didn't have a backup plan (Using Jae Joon was the PM's alternate plan once he discovered how much Hoon hates him). So if they had gone back to North Korea without completing their mission of getting Hoon to operate in the surgery, then both Seung Hee and Agent Cha would be killed for their failure. He thought Seung Hee was protecting Hoon in order to give buy them more time and give them another chance at convincing the PM to choose Hoon. Remember, Agent Cha said that if she had fail again, it would be her dead body lying next to Hoon. So Agent Cha just thought that Seung Hee was just trying to save her own life, not Hoon's.

4.) or Agent Cha already knows that she is JH? because he always said something like "don't ever try to disobey because neither you or him will be alive" if he really believed that she is Seunghee, he will never suspect her for betraying.I don't believe Agent Cha suspected Seung Hee was really Jae Hee until episode 14, when Hoon's mom went missing. Because the only people who knew about Hoon's mom was the PM (and his men), Lollipop Ajusshi, Agent Cha and Seung Hee. By process of elimination, the only person not accounted during Hoon's mom's disappearance was Seung Hee. He and Lollipop suspected Seung Hee was Jae Hee because only the real Jae Hee would risk her life to protect Hoon's mom - removing another leverage they can use against Hoon. But Seung Hee had an alibi during the time that Hoon's mom went missing - that she was in surgery during the whole time so she couldn't have been involve in it (although we know that she had brought in Dr. Eun to cover for her while she whisked Hoon's mom away). They have no concrete evidence that she really is Jae Hee, only suspicions. That's why Agent Cha threaten JH that if she was really involve in it, he would waste no time in killing both her and Hoon. They needed a fake Jae Hee to manipulate Hoon to do their bidding, not the real one. The real Jae Hoon would interfere with their plans to protect Hoon instead. Since they still need Seung Hee/Jae Hee for her anesthesiologist skills to complete their mission, they can't kill her off yet.

Uhm hi guys. It's the first time I'm here in this thread but you see me on the main thread. So guessing I'm posting here makes me come out that I like them as a pair.

I just want to say this because I can't say it in the main thread because someone might get offended or will start to reply with something to me that I might retaliate back.

Anyways, here I go.

The scene when Hoon forced Jae Hee to tell him the plan in which she said that he just needs to be a good doctor and not to get involved with the plan and forget about it. It just breaks my heart in that scene. Why? Because in episode 13 when he was mad at her for making him look away from a dying woman/mother and she just broke down. All her defenses and convictions that is related to him just crumbled down. She released it all against Jin Soo. She had enough of it.

When she said that Hoon just needs to be a good doctor and she'll handle it, it seemed to me that it's okay even if I die then it's okay as long as he's safe, as long as I don't destroy the last dignity he has for himself as a doctor, it's okay. That was just heartbreaking because she herself let go of all of her. And I am afraid that she'll die. I don't care about the novel right now because adaptations somehow goes out of its way when it's in dramas or movies. It just goes to say that either she dies or she'll end up with Hoon. (Freaking writer/PD if JSY's character dies again in this drama, I'll personally ambush you)

Anyways, I that most of you guys share your insights here rather than the main thread. It's great to read it.

I suspect that Doctor Johan (the foreign doctor who helped Hoon in Budapest, a friend of Park Chul and dr. Choi) is the one who helped Jae Hee when she fell to Danube Lake and then helped her to remove the surgery scar. Could it be?That's why Doctor Choi is very sure and insists JH is still alive when Chang Yi's mom said she is dead. So far Doctor Choi is one of the good guys, right? He also looked for Lee Sung Hoon (Han Jae Joon) to ask for forgiveness.

As people curious how could JH recovered so fast from scar surgery removal, nowadays the technology is really advanced. As I read an article saying you can get a new chin or nose and go to work two days after that. So I think scar removal is not a big deal when you can even change your face completely and still recover quickly.

However I still can't answer if Agent Cha really knows JH's identity or not. It could be:
