Self Signed SSL problems

It looks as if some of the login issues some people are experiencing may be caused by the use of self-signed SSL certificates. It looks as if the problem is with mono not trusting them even though apache is happy. I suspect there is a way of overcoming this with a server side configuration tweak, but are there any mono experts in the group who can help?

I'm wondering if the following will cure it for example?

sudo certmgr --add -c Trust /path-to-your-own-ssl-root-certificate.cer

We'll build some fresh test servers later in the week and see if we can sort out a cure if the above doesn't do it. Obviously the best solution is to have a real SSL certificate, but I can understand why a lot of people are using self-signed ones for internal use.
