I am testing this program and I like it a lot! I am using the flatten
to QT option and I love the results with TV shows (on Apple TV).

I have having an issue with full length movie files. So far, they
seem to hang every time. I have this set up so that iFlicks is being
run from the applescript. I use the same script for all files, and
the TV length files work fine. The are almost exclusively avi. The
movies have been avi, mkv, and wmv. I initially attributed the isse
to the way QT loads MKV and WMV, but now that it hung on an 800mb avi,
I am not sure what the issue is. The queue shows the file as
"loading", but there is no progress, even after a day.

Any help is appreciated!

When this happens again, please send me a feedback report. To do so,
just select Help -> Send Feedback from the menu and leave me a short
note explaining the error.

I sent you feedback last night. I will send more as I try more
files. I realize now that it hangs on a lot of smaller files as
well. Here is the applescript I am using to call it:

try
tell application "iFlicks"
import theFile without gui
end tell
end try

Does that seem correct?

I did find the dictionary- I am a rookie at coding, but that is a
great resource!

Thanks!

Hey Jendrick!

When i'm converting like 200 files in iFLicks, why is it that after each file finishes converting the program "wakes up the computer" from sleep mode? So what happens is that the monitor stays on all night for no good reason? Can you fix this?

This is done on purpose. During some parts of the encoding QuickTime
needs the display to be turned on, otherwise it will crash.

I guess i'll just dim the display then.. (Shades). So looks like your using Perian + Quicktime 7 to encode? Is this correct. Well with .srt works fine but not with .ass subtitles. Anyhow it works great but the speed is really slow, twice as slow as handbreak (but at least it never crashes).

Yes. iFlicks is using Perian and QTKit, but the beta also uses x264, which makes it only slightly slower than Handbrake (at least in most cases).
So far all subtitles, which are supported by Perian, are added as a separate track. I'll add better support during the next development cycle of iFlicks. If you have any special subtitle kinds you want to be support, feel free to write me a PM with a few examples.

Without deviation from the norm... progress is not possible.

Hey Jendrick you should at least somehow change the encoding setting with leaving the screen on? I left my screen on about 2 days now and it's very hot even after dimming. Surely you can change it so that it can encode and somehow have the lcd screen off?

lol no progress is made without deviating from the norm, indeed, iflick is becoming quite unique.

In case anyone stumbles on this and is looking for the answer, it
turnes out the issue was with the rule in Hazel. I had it set to pass
the file to iFlicks, then delete the file, then growl. For some
reason, Hazel wasn't waiting for the file to process before deleting,
so iFlicks lost track of the file.

I simply removed the "delete file" rule in hazel and changed the
script to "import theFile with deleting without gui". Same result-
except this actual works!

Thanks for all of your halp in digging in to this, Jendrick!
