Dear all,
Hope all are well and enjoying this “fall” weather in August!!
As you are aware of the many families that were affected by the floods of Tropical Storm Chantal, The Furniture Project has been as busy as one can imagine. Fortunately for some , they have been able to find housing other than their damaged previous residences. With requests from them and our usual referrals , we find ourselves extremely low on furniture , especially beds and sofas.
Attached please find a flyer in several formats requesting help . If you are able , kindly pass these on or display them in appropriate places such as your places of worship. This will be a long process ,finding places for so many victims, either in a new home or waiting for their previous residences to be repaired. The last time there was such a flood , it took 3 months to resolve the housing issue.
We also are looking for manual help, those with pickup trucks. Many of our weekday helpers come from Trinity Lutheran, Newman Center, Zen Center, St. Thomas More plus unaffiliated individuals. Working together much can be accomplished.
Thank you everyone for your assistance in passing the word around. Hopefully, our families will find permanent shelter soon.
Peace and hope,
Jane Hathaway
