Respected Sir,

Thanks you very much for your highly inspiring message. I am sure we can do a lot if we join hands.

The sad part in the story of Covergence-09 is that it is being held on the occasion of Silver Jubilee of the Institute and still there is no enthusiasm or rather initiative from the institute management. It sounds like Third Year students' own interest. A communication on behalf of Institute Management to all approachable Alums could have been more encouraging.

You rightly said that it is time to pay-back. There are many things that we can do together (a small list is below)
        - Setting up close link between Institute and Industry
        - Offering better training opportunities
        - Arranging better job opportunities
        - Offering Real-life projects to the Students
        - Supporting Students from economically weaker sections of the society
        - And many More

But apart from these, there are some other important issues with the institute that need due attention. I do not want to miss the opportunity to consult you on how to approach about it. These are -
        - The institute building is left with only few Toilets as most of them are Defunct
        - The condition of Toilets and Mess Area in the old hostels is pathetic
        - The Auditorium which can house the crowd of Encore (instead of spending Lakhs of Rupees on Tent) is still not operational and is used as storage for UPTU answer-books,
           a purpose which can be served by a small storage that can be erected for Rs 5 Lakh - the cost of one Encore Pandal
        - Aesthetics of the campus - You can feel the difference when you enter IITD and then IETL.

We wish to have your directions and suggestion in regards to these issues.

Dear All 28th April 2009

I am getting your mails for the last few days since you included me in the loop. Although not responding that frequently, I am getting a feel of what is cooking in your minds.

Alum Association is a very very creditable thought and permits us all to repay GURU DAKSHINA to our Alma Mater. This is a platform where we should focus on what can we do for the Institution, for our juniors. Our little contributions will help build an emotional relationship with our Institution and provide us great mental satisfaction.

We had initiated the alum activity way back in or aroud year 2000, but could not sustain it for long for want of the Level of Commitment needed. In my opinion what is needed is a dedicated Executive Committee which can spare some of its time for no material returns to carry out the Objectives of the Association and then we all need to have FAITH in it. Let's not ask too many questions and have doubts in the beginning esle the mission will not be accomplished.

I appeal to you all to come to Lucknow on 31st May, participate in the event and enjoy the evening, but come with a firm committment of what you can contribute to the Association/ Institute.

The OBJECTIVES of the Association may include some of the following :

To establish and maintain a platform for interaction and exchange of views among the Alums and the Institute.

To ensure sustainability of enthusiasm with which we are meeting on 31st.

To identify and develop mechanisms to contribute in the development of the Institute.

To help establish strong linkage between Institution and the Industry.

To list the activities, besides Alum Meet, the Association will undertake.

To form the Ex. Committee (with some local members who are determined to spare their time) and plan the future course of action.

To offer our sincere committments to the Ex. Committee in terms of Time/ Money/ Support we can provide and to self- assess the level up to which we have honoured our committments.
