Vinay Chandra, Sh. Tanvir Tahir and Sh. Shashank Gupta (the freshmost Alumnus:), flanked by the Meet organising team visited the institute(alongwith printers and computers, mind it) and met respected Director Sh. SK Srivsatava. A formal letter seeking recognition by college and patronage of the Director in ex officio capacity and the draft constitution of IETAA was handed over to Sh. SKS during the discussions. Visiting alumni were able to impress upon the bona fide intentions of this project and successfully obtained the in-principal verbal concurrence from him. However, the permission to use the institute campus as the address for the IETAA was not forthcoming.   Our team also met Dr. VK Singh and Dr. Bharati Dwivedi HODs of EC and EE respectively. Both were very supportive towards the cause.   And today again, the same team met the Director and were able to obtain the official concurrence to IETAA. Director Sir was eating out of the hands of our team. Cheers!!!   Not only this, our man and woman in uniform (Sh Vinay Chandra and Mrs. Sunita Sharma) also arranged a fantastic venue for the Alumni meet on 31st May in the form of the newly built sprawling Convention Centre located at the bank of river Gomti near the Hathi Park, Budhdha Park and at stones throw from Imambara. The catering will be by Royal Hotel. This will lead to substantial savings towards the cost of something as inconsequential but otherwise unavoidable as an air-cooled tent, which has all along been making the event budget go haywire.   Now the most hardworking background team and reat of us (not as hardworking:) and the meet organising team have quite a few reasons to rejoice. Kudos to Team @ Lucknow and active nodes at other places:-) (Amit, I cannot make this briefing sound anymore official:)   One more thing, while we were discussing today's developments, we landed a corporate-contributor Alumni. Mrs. Shalini Kapoor of 91-95 batch, who is in an influential position at IBM Hyderabad, mailed me on the subject and then I spoke to her and she told that she has been able to persuade IBM's campus incubation team to take IET also on their panel. So far they have had only IITs and NITS. She is in touch with CSE deptt and she is willing to introduce this on 31st May in the form of a brief presentation. This would give a boost to our efforts. I hope this is fine by the Covergence team   Spread the word around. I am sure the number of registrations  for the 31st Meet is going to go much beyond the current quarter century. So now this is how you are planning to seal my mouth:) The most vocal opponent of a structure is proposed to be made a part of the matrix! Though, commenting on Mr. Rajeev Tiara's nomination would be taking oneself too seriously, one thing I must say that if I would be accepting this responsibility, irrespective of how big or small it may be, it would be for honouring the collective trust placed in me, howsoever misplaced, and for whatsoever reasons.           No need to mention that there are innumerable people, in and around Delhi, in rest of India (esp. Bangalore) and abroad (mainly UK and USA) who are so much more capable in shouldering such responsibilities, and I am still not objecting to my nomination just because I feel that it might cause some rework and delay at this stage. And it will be rude too. (Monk has just been thrust a Ferrari, and did I get the spelling right) (And I trust my God to be by my side on 31st May)           I am trusting the collective wisdom and am ready to stand by humbly, if that serves, even if in interim, in building a sustainable platform for Alumni to do things which are good for Institute, Students and themselves. I also long to see IIT like Alumni activities of my Institute.           I am keeping the questions, which I have many and am trusting that it all is going to be good for all of us. Presently SP rank officer & Head, Wireless Centre UP Police, Lucknow. A socialite and member of several other such Institutions. She has been always very supportive to the students of IET.               Vice President             Bandana Sinha             1989 Batch Computer Science. Presently Global Delivery Head (LifeSciences and HealthCare ISU) at Tata Consultancy Services, Bangalore. She has been instrumental in initiating the idea of Alumni Association & she supported loads of student activites during her tenure at TCS Lucknow office.               General Secretary             Mayank Pant             1990 Civil. Successfully running his own Engineering Consultancy Firm, Shah & Pant Construction Engineering Pvt Ltd (Halwasiya Complex, Lucknow), along with O P shah, another alumnae of the Institute. He is a strong support for students in  their various activities especially ENCORE etc.               Secretary             Vinay Chandra, PPS             1992 Batch Electrical. Presently DSP rank officer & CO Chowk, UP Police, Lucknow. Highly creative and a person who was always involved in various activity while in college and after.               Secretary             Rajeev Tivari             1995 Batch Mechanical. Presently Manager in BHEL, Noida. He had been dynamic in organizing several Alumni Meets at Delhi.  Always supports student in their various activities at Institute.               Treasurer             Tanvir Tahir             1992 Batch MCA. Presently faculty at Computer Science Dept, IET Lucknow. He is the sole guardien of Institute's website and takes part actively in all student activities.
