Sunny,
Thanks so much for connecting us and we are very excited to highlight Asian American Pacific American heritage month at our Spring Festival on May 11. I will reach out to both Yongmei and Jean to coordinate their involvement through the IES Chinese American families and CAPA respectively. I have also reached out to Momina Malik who will get me connected with other cultural groups who may be interested in participating. Thanks for the suggestion and I think this will be a great addition to our event!

Take care,
Ginny

Hi Carmella and Ginny,

It was nice to talk with both of you in the PTA board meeting. Thanks for the support of adding Asian Pacific American heritage month (May) celebration to the Spring Festival.

In the past 5 years, the group of Chinese families in Ilchester planned activities to celebrate Chinese culture at school (e.g. performance assembly, hallway/front foyer decoration, 3rd grade holiday celebration presentations, k-2nd grade Chinese new year/ Zodiac presentations, Chinese new year books and crafts in reading night). This year one mom Janet Zang came up the idea of sponsoring the Spring Festival. We are happy to be able to continue the tradition. We elect one parent as the president of the group each year to organize the event and Yongmei Pan is the current one. She will contact with Ginny for the details.

We also reached out to a non-profit organization Chinese American Parent Association (CAPA) of Howard County (https://www.capa-hc.org/). The founder and president Jean Xu was a former IES mom and PTA treasurer. A lot of IES Chinese parents are also the members of CAPA. Together CAPA and IES Chinese families would like to sponsor $250 to the Spring Festival. So CAPA would have the silver level benefits (Names in the program, table for flyers, name & logo on facebook etc.). And IES Chinese families will organize a separate table for the Chinese cultural display, games/crafts etc. Please let us know if this works for you.

Yongmei and Jean's emails are panyo...@gmail.com and jea...@yahoo.com for future communications.

Thanks,
Sunny
