Hello Ms. Zhao,

Thank you for the offer, but the Olympiad program cannot be a Howard County program in the Math curriculum. Since the G/T Program no longer has the funds for it, G/T Teachers cannot use math instructional time for it, in the interest of equity country-wide. We may look into doing an Instructional Seminar on Olympiad-type problems, but Olympiad will not happen in the math block. That seminar would not have to be done under the auspices of the Olympiad company, since their involvement in preparing the problems and keeping track of the scoring and providing trophies and patches would not be necessary for a seminar.

Hi Ms. Konig, Ms. Roberts and Ms. Stetz,

Hope you all enjoyed the summer break and welcome back to another great school year!

I am an Ilchester mom and my two daughters are going to be in 5th grade and Kindergarten. 

I heard from a mom friend in another school in Howard County that due to budget cut the Elementary School Math Olympiad program will be cancelled. I am sad to hear about this and am wondering if Ilchester can still keep this program for 4th and 5th grades students. I heard that the fee for a team is $145 and not sure how many teams Ilchester will have. If PTA provides the fund (some schools in HC did that), can we still keep the program? Of course it depends on the PTA budget and approval. I just hope the students can still have this academic opportunity.
