2025 Corn Denting Progress
Date: 28 Aug 05:30 AM
Votes: Good: 8   Bad: 0 Abstain: 1

The corn crop for Iowa and for the vast majority of the US Corn Belt continues to be in great shape. The most recent USDA NASS weekly crop progress report released on Monday estimated 45% of the state's corn crop in "denting" stage. The featured chart presents a look at the yearly corn in denting stage estimates for Iowa with the white "X" denoting the location of the 45% value each year. The right hand panel plots these yearly dates and fits a simple trend line to the data. The trend is not very strong as there is plenty of scatter with the data, but this year's value is a couple of days ahead of a long term average. Corn reaching denting stage still has a number of weeks to go before being ready for harvest.
