Iowa was treated to a spectacular northern lights display on Tuesday evening. Having not too cold of temperatures, mostly clear skies, and the early evening timing helped out the viewing as well! The featured image is from the KCRG-TV webcam in Decorah at 9:10 PM showing the green and red light visible at the time. Of course, your social feed and the Internet is full of much better photos from this evening, but it is satisfying to see such phenomena from stationary webcams not necessarily designed to capture such events. A time lapse from this webcam was captured and uploaded to YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Iowa has been treated to a number of such events over the past two years as solar activity remains elevated.
