The amazing late summer weather continued on Monday with another day with high temperatures in the lower 70s for most of the state. This wonderful weather came just in time for the start of school season and to help those schools with marginal air conditioning capacities! The featured chart looks into the year to date accumulated number of days with a high temperature of at least 70°F for Ames. Each year's accumulation is plotted as a tan line with a simple average show with the black line. The full year maximum and minimum values are highlighted as well. Last year's total of 175 days is shown as the most on record and with this year's accumulation running a few days ahead of last year's pace! The red line continued accumulation through the end of October certainly shows how 2024 passed so many previous years.
