Temperatures warmed very nicely on Tuesday with the entire state reaching above freezing values. This warmer air is being swept out of the state though by very strong winds with NWS Offices like Des Moines issuing a High Wind Warning for gusts around 60 MPH. The featured chart presents the number of such warnings by year as issued by NWS Des Moines. This year's total of six is double that of any year over the modern period of record. It is interesting to see no such events over the previous two years.
