Abstract

Wireless communication is becoming one of the necessities in our daily life and we are beginning to feel the pinch in the limited speed the current system can offer.  Hybrid fiber-wireless networks and optical-wireless architecture aim to overcome this limitation to offer truly broadband services. This talk will look at the various optical technologies that support broadband wireless access.

Author’s Biography

Christina Lim received the B.E. (First Class Hons) and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 1995 and 2000, respectively.  She is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, at the same university.  She is one of the recipients of the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship 2009.   She was also a recipient of the Australian Research Council Australian Research Fellowship in 2004.  Her research interests include fiber-wireless access technology, modeling of optical and wireless communication systems, microwave photonics, application of mode-locked lasers, and optical network architectures.
