I made a listserv for our ExecCom and Section members on the IEEE
listserv (or rather filled out the form to have it made). I did not
make lists for the individual chapters. I saved the email addresses on
the old lists for a while (several months), but eventually deleted
them. I sent the lists to whoever requested them at the time ... I
think Pradeep of the Computer Society was the only request.
You can make an account on our site. (Click on the Logon tab along the
top and then click Register). Look for an activation mail ... might be
spammed out into your junk folder) After you are registered, send me
mail and I will upgrade you to Publisher which gives you the ability
to add events to our calendar, Also to write articles. Sometimes it is
good to write an article as well as adding to the calendar to make the
event more obvious. Some people even make a newsflash.
The instructions on how to write an event are in the IEEEhowTo
category in the file download section. It's a PDF with screenshots. We
are using a free event package and admittedly the UI is not the
greatest. Its primary feature is the lack of cost. But it works.
For a chapter list you can
1.
go through the process of getting one on the IEEE listserv. I'd
recommend specifically requesting an archive. It doesn't happen
automatically. My opinion is that publicly viewable archives are
useful.
2.
make a google group. This is probably the easiest option. The IEEE
listserv is fine, but I think the google group is easier to manage.

Hi Rob,
I'm not sure where the sub-list is; it's not on the our site.
Maybe it is with the IEEE Listserv?
BTW, we have moved from Kavi to a new site based on Joomla (w/o the
$1100/month fee).
Go to our new site and register. And send a note to ted Kubaska
(Tkub...@ieee.org). He will upgrade you to be able to post the
meeting on the site. He has some instructions on how to do that.
I saw Dan Kirsch at Innotech and he said he wasn't sure what was
happening with the Chapter, so I'm glad to hear it's being picked up.
May 21 the CPMT/CAS group is having essentially a DL from the UK
speaking on "Design, Simulation and Modelling for Microsystems
Packaging: Current capabilities and Future Requirements" at OGI at
6:00 PM (pizza). Maybe your MTT folks might be interested?
regards,
/ed

Hi, Ed:
I've been asked to manage the announcements for meetings of our
Chapter (MTT/ED) here in OR. It has been so long since I was
responsible before that I don't remember how to submit announcements
to be "sent" out or how to manage the list! Can you or someone walk me
through the process again? I believe we have a sub-list for those
members and non-members interested in hearing about MTT/ED Chapter
activities.
Thanks!
Rob Hamilton
