Network Security - To uncover the truths

Hello techies,

I had this idea in mind which I thought I could share with you folks.
Remember we're hosting a network security competition, and guess what,
rarely any of us knows much about network security and hacking. The
reason being that in academics, we aren't usually exposed to these
kinds of topics in greater detail. So, I was thinking if could start
some talks on network security and let people gather some detailed
knowledge as security is a key player in modern computing industry and
we're much behind in this area of computing. I'm also thinking of
having our own small isolated experimenting network of some sort where
we could practically implement what we learn related to hacking and
stuff, which may also be really helpful in designing network security
competitions in future. In short, I'm suggesting to bring about a
Hacking Interest Group in LUMS.

Suggestions? Ideas? Comments???

i think its a very good idea...there would be a lot of people (i hope)
who would be interested in this...n it vil be excellent to get sum
starting guidelines on it! I suggest u shd do it after eid. First get
a rough idea abt who how mny ppl r interested n den v can decided on a
tym dats convenient for all through the group!

along with that we can also have seminars on security, i.e. how to keep your network \ computers secure etc. ... again depends upon the general interest.

oh cool!!! waisey it is actually a pretty gud idea... id love to learn to hack too..

acha if i participate would i also learn to hack into LUMS ka course registration system?? cause that would be really helpful to get courses and better gpas :)
