Report of activities in IEEE HUST student branch Sep. 2009

Dear IEEE Wuhan Section Executives and HUST Student Branch Members,

 

Here is a report of activities in IEEE HUST student branch of Sep. 2009:

 

On Sep 18, a local IEEE 125 anniversary was held in HUST. We memorized the contributions of IEEE and talked about the functionality of it. Then the status of HUST student branch was reported. We discussed about how to stimulate more people to participate our activity. Our members shared the experiences on publication in IEEE conference and journals. Fruit is served during the meeting.

-          According to the proposal during the meeting, we have Jingru Li as the new secretary of our student branch and Lirong Li as the new treasurer.

-          According to member’s suggestion, a QQ message group (id: 22520738) is built to ease communication between student members.

 

On Sep 22, I attended the IEEE 125 Celebration Activity at Beijing Presidential Hotel. Before the Anniversary Dinner, I give an introduction of our student Branch with other student branch chairs. University Brochures and post cards with the scenery of HUST were presented to the attendees of the activities, and given out to some of the visitors at our presenting stage finally. It is the first time we participate such foreign affair, so we prepared a flag for our student branch. In the local activity of Sep 18, our branch members gathered together by the flag and took a groupshot (available at HUST-Celebrate125). The former activities’ image records are also printed and shown at our stage. During the activity, I have met Gang Guan from Microsoft Research Asia, Prof. Xiqi Gao from Southeast Univ., HUST graduates and some acquaintance from both academic and industry. I think we can enrich our connections to the outside through them.

 

On Sep 23, the China Student Branch Congress was held in BUPT. Each Student Branch chair gave an introduction to the branch activities. And we learn how to get contact with other organization in university, how to share professional events information. After that, Qing Li and Kristen Fitzpatrick from IEEE University Partnership gave us advises on how to hold branch activities. And they also presented some events in New Jersey Section. During the event, the local special food prepared by each student branch was served. At the end of the congress meeting, we exchanged the present which stands for local place of interest and university. The gold plated bookmark of HUST from us was given to the student branch of Tsinghua Univ. And Xian Jaotong Univ. gave us a pen rack with Terracotta Army Painting (photo available at China-Congress).

 

At last, thank for the support from Wuhan Section Executives and Student Branch Committee members.
