今天华总在北京IEEE办公室召开了一个会议，参加人员有来自Region 10的Norman Marium (Region 10 Section Coordinator), Deepak Mathur (Region 10 Chapter Coordinator), 北京分会以及北京学生分会。会上Norman告诉大家一个申请IEEE学生活动经费的途径，希望大家好好利用这个机会。

如果哪个学会需要申请，需要提交一个1-2页纸的报告，写明what is this event about? who's going to attend the event? how to spend money? what are the impacts on IEEE membership development and awareness? etc.

华总建议说其实大家可以以中国学生分会的名义联合申请，这样申请到的金额和可能性都会比较大，希望大家可以动动脑筋如何进行。

Hi，

我觉得这是个很好的活动，可以就目前的研究热点给以介绍和讨论，只是有一个问题是：我们hust一个分会的学科和研究热点很多，如何进行讨论，使得各个学科和方向的同学都能参与进来。一个院系的研究方向就已经很多，扩大到一个学校就更多了，如何开展讨论会我认为是个值得商讨的问题。

热点问题是指当今世界亟需解决的问题，并不是指当个的研究领域吧。

比如能源问题，环境问题，都是系统工程，所有的专业都可以有所作为。

我是这样理解的。

Mentioning the Laboratory for Optoelectronics and Center of Pulsed
Magnetic Field in the report will be helpful for us to get the
fundings. Also it is a good idea to talk with some faculty (especially
those Changjiang Professors in Laboratory for Optoelectronics), their
supports should be very important for the fundings.

I know the Graduate Asscociation at Dept. of Electronic Science and
Technology helds annual academic forums among the key universities in
Wuhan, so if the IEEE branch conduct a joint activity with them, there
may be some exciting results.
