Simulation Engineer
Computational Electromagnetics Research Center of the Bilkent University, BiLCEM, has openings for simulation engineers. Electrical and electronics engineers, computer engineers, computer scientists, physics engineers, and physicists may apply.
BiLCEM is an excellence center that is dedicated to the study of the solution of real-life electromagnetics problems using cutting-edge computing technologies. BiLCEM has a dynamic environment, where state-of-the-art computing technologies are utilized to solve very-large-scale numerical electromagnetics problems that have important real-life applications, such as radars, antennas, nanostructures, metamaterials, microelectronics, mobile phone systems, satellites, lasers and optical systems, to name a few. Solutions of such complicated but ultimately useful problems require the use of powerful computers. Parallel computing and construction of parallel computer clusters are important areas of research at BiLCEM.
Recently, the world’s largest integral-equation problem in computational electromagnetics is solved at BiLCEM.
The world record is broken by solving a 550,000,000 x 550,000,000 matrix equation!

A candidate for the "simulation engineer" will perform electromagnetics simulations using package programs, plot results, and write reports. The work also involves exciting research topics. The "simulation engineer" will be expected to have (most of) the following qualifications:
1. Programming in MATLAB
2. Data plotting, graphical representation of data
3. Familiarity with Linux and Windows/MacOS systems as a user (not administrator)
4. Report writing (in Turkish and English)
5. Web page preparation at the basic level in order to display research results
6. Electromagnetics, microwaves/antennas, and numerical analysis courses in the undergraduate curriculum
7. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Following qualifications are not mandatory, however, they will serve as a plus for the applicant:
8. Programming in Fortran, C, C++, and other languages
9. Experience with CAD software (such as, I-DEAS, NX6, ProEngineer, Nastran, AutoCAD)
10. Experience with electromagnetic simulation programs (such as, CST, FEKO, HFSS, Sonnet)
11. Professional-level web page design and implementation
12. Install and maintain Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems as an administrator
13. Parallel computing: setting up parallel computers, MPI, parallel programming
14. Prior experience with programming in accordance with military standards and other quality standards.
