Hi All
A new distance sensor is almost ready. It is the Time of Flight laser rangefinder from this discussion thread,
http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?133632-Time-of-Flight-Laser-Project&p=1077074&viewfull=1#post1077074
1 cm accuracy at 50 meter in full sunshine is the minimum expected performance; author has gotten accurate readings at 150 meters but I don;t know what conditions expect for "the furthest trees I could see out the lab window".
I've been helping on this project for about 7 months, the manual is in final review and is linked in the post.

If you are interested in this unit, please make comments on the draft of the manual.
Post any comments on the thread, or refer questions directly to me, and I will forward them to the author.
We might have a prototype available shortly to examine at one of the monthly meetings.
Do we have an expert on class 1M lasers in the group? Or anyone familiar with digital down conversion?
Cheers!

Sincerely,
Prof.Braino
