Dear PES Chapter Chairs, Chapter Reps, and Region Reps:

We are pleased to announce the results of the IEEE PES Outstanding Chapter Awards for Large (>100 high-grade members at start of program year) and Small Chapters for the 2019 program year:

Large Chapter Co-Winners:  North Jersey (R1) [Chapter Chair – Ronald Quade] & Bangalore (R10)  [Chapter Chair – Dr Kasi Viswanadha Raju]

Runner Up: Malaysia (10)

Small Chapter Winner: Thailand (R10)  [Chapter Chair – Sompong Preeprem]

  Runner Up: Jordan (R8)

The OCA submittals were extremely well done and showed the many great things that these chapters are doing throughout the world for IEEE PES and the chapter membership.

Winning Chapters receive $1000, runners up $250.  The winning chapter chairs (or designee) will be recognized during the 2020 IEEE PES General Meeting.  This meeting will be virtual, with more details at the following link  http://pes-gm.org/2020/.  I would also encourage you to congratulate the Runner-up chapters, as it is no small feat to qualify for runner-up status.

Thank you to all the chapters that submitted OCA applications this year.  I know there are other active chapters out there that are doing great things based on your HPCP submittals and can compete for the OCA.  I would encourage you to keep the OCA requirements in mind for the second half of the year and to consider compiling a report for submission.  Overall details are available on the PES Chapter web site at https://www.ieee-pes.org/pes-communities/awards/chapter-awards and are discussed in greater depth at the regional chapter training events.

Once again, congratulations to our winners and runners up in the IEEE Power & Energy Society Outstanding Chapter Award contest.

With regards,

Paul Pabst, P.E., PMP

IEEE PES – Awards & Resources Committee Chair
