Brief about the Topic (ISA 99 and ISA100):

ISA99- the umbrella standard for Industrial security is addressing the IT related security within manufacturing as well as some specifics of the NERC - CIP (North American Electric Reliability Council – Critical Infrastructure Protection). This topic is of interest not just for automation engineers but also for power industry since the NERC – CIP will reach our utility business very soon in one or the other form. This emerging standard will be of interest to any engineer from one or more of the disciplines - Electrical, Electronics, IT, Instrumentation/Automation.

ISA100 – This is a standard for Wireless network in Industrial automation. Other than Automation engineers, Electronic Engineers particularly Radio engineers have a big role to play in this, right from the physical layer till the transport/networking layer. Adopting wireless in manufacturing industry will be a landmark event for the decade and it will trigger the next wave of innovation in Automation, electrical & electronics industry.
