hey guys this is the basic structure of the report as i ve thought.
mail me ASAP all the suggestions and also the specifications of
different components.

Electronics portion:-
The Autonomous Guided vehicle will have the following electronic
components placed on it.
1) Mother board
2) GPS unit
3) Camera
4) Sensors
5) Batteries
6) Hard Disc

1) Mother Board: -
The robot will have a motherboard placed on it, which will be used for
doing all the processing. The code stored in the memory will be
processed by the motherboard to drive the motors, rotate the camera and
direct the GPS unit. Also, all the data sent by the camera and the
sensors will be analyzed by it for taking corresponding action.
Besides that all the different devices for instance the hard disc etc
will be connected to it.

2) GPS unit: -
There will be a GPS chip put on the robot. It will allow us to
send the vehicle at any desired location easily and accurately. The
robot could also tell the exact coordinates of any object in its
vicinity. The chip will be connected to the motherboard for its
data's analysis.

3) Camera: -
The camera on the robot will be a cheap and tiny. It will
continuously transmit its video to the robot, thus enabling us to see
its surroundings. It will be placed at a suitable location on the robot
so as to provide vision of maximum area with maximum clarity. Its
rotation will be controlled through a stepper motor attached to it.

4) Sensors: -
The robot will avoid any object by detecting it using distance
sensors placed on it at different points. It will continuously measure
the distance of any object in front of it and then send it to the
motherboard for analysis. When it comes close to any object of large
size, code will guide it to change its path.

5) Battery: -
The power required by all the motors and the motherboard will be
supplied by 2 or 3 batteries. They will be the standard batteries of
Amphr which will be able to drive the robot continuously for hrs. They
will be placed at suitable positions on the robot so that they can be
easily removed and replaced whenever required.

6) Hard Disc: -
All the data send by the camera & sensors and the code for driving
the robot would be stored in the hard disc. The disc will be connected
to the motherboard.

I went to Nehru Place to ask for prices -

1. Wireless Router - NETGEAR seems to be the only brand available - It
has a 56 mbps data transfer rate(maximum rate). Cost quoted - about
2150 rupees.

2. Wireless lan card - Required for operation of wireless router. Cost
quoted - Rs. 1150/-

3. Cameras - The cheapest camera was by Quantum(Rs 350/-), Logitech
cameras were about 600 rupees.

4. None of the shops I went to dealed in second hand motherboards/hard
disks. However, it is likely that the mobo+disk+LAN crad combo will
cost around 2.5k.

I am confident that second hand ones are available.
The shopkeepet from whome I bought my computer from mentioned this to me once. I will confirm prices with him.

About current consumption,
net current consumption mentioned everywhere is about 20-25 amperes.
However on probing deeper, I observed that this was arrived upon by adding together current consmptions of all devices regardless of the power supply voltage that they were running upon. There are some components which require 12V some 5V and some 3V.
So after calculating , net current consumption at 12V comes out to be around 10 Amperes (this includes hard disk and LAN card current values)

For transmitting and receiving the audio and video signals from
the robot to the base computer and vice-versa we'll need a wireless
router and wireless LAN card. The motherboard will direct the AV
signals to the LAN card, which will transmit them through the router.
These signals will then be received at the base computer, which will
get us the live AV feedback. Both the router and the LAN card will be
connected to the motherboard.

Estimated Price List
COMPONENT PRICE QUANTITY TOTAL
Motherboard 1200 1 1200
GPS unit
Camera 600 1 600
Sensors 300
Battery 3
Hard Disc 300 1 300
Router/LAN card 3300 2 6600
