Greetings CCNY IEEE members,
Tomorrow there will be a tour of the amateur radio station (W2HJ) with an on-air demonstration.
Where: Shepard Hall Music Library Basement
(station is in Joe Ciccone's office in the back left corner)
When: Tuesday April 28th from 12:30-1:45pm
For those that are unfamiliar with amateur (ham) radio, this is not a broadcast station, but rather a wireless communication system used to contact other amateur radio users around the world. CCNY's history with ham radio goes back almost a century, when the original station was at the top of the bell tower in Shepard Hall. The station was recently re-enacted and is currently maintained by CCNY students and our faculty mentor Joe Ciccone. Last semester we were able to contact people in Europe and across the US. It is a great opportunity to see your coursework in action, especially for those interested in communication.
Hope to see you there!
