Hello members,

Thank you for attending the election and casting your vote for the new e-board members. Below is a message from current IEEE@CCNY chapter president, James Simko. Please read it.

To the membership,

It is my great privilege as the president of the IEEE chapter at CCNY to give you this, my final address. I am pleased to announce the results of our election for the executive board and your officers for the coming academic year. Our new president is Marie Drapalova, a rising senior, who previously served as our treasurer. Our new Internal Vice President is Roshard Nicholls, a rising junior, who previously served as our secretary. Our new External Vice President is Kristin Mayo, a rising sophomore. Our new Treasurer is Oshane Newell, a rising junior. Our new Secretary is Vivakeanand Boodhan, a rising junior, who previously served as our webmaster. Our new webmaster is Daniel Obeng. While Mr. Obeng was a write-in candidate and did not submit a candidate statement, the overwhelming support of the membership at the election was sufficient for the executive board to support the candidate in the incumbent administration.

I would like to take the time to remind you of the services we have provided over the last year and invite you to provide suggestions for new projects. This year we held prep sessions for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and provided textbooks for needy students. As always, the IEEE has been first and foremost a collaborative society, believing in free information and advancing technology for humanity. In the spirit of such, we do our best to use our budget to amplify the effect of other clubs that pursue technological advancement; to name a few examples, we have been proud to co-sponsor the Build-N-Battle events with CCNY-Robotics, IEEE-HKN, the Zahn Center and FIRST Robotics, as well as two hackathons, and we are happy to announce we will be hosting our own Code-N-Battle event later this semester. Once again, we organized the field trip to Astoria Power-Gen to tour a combined cycle power plant, and we are also sponsoring an Internet of Things (IOT) project with the CCNY Robotics club. We are also supporting several of our members who have graciously decided to give up their spring break to build homes for the needy with Habitat for Humanity.

It has warmed my heart that so many of you have been attending IEEE Affinity Groups throughout the city, and I hope the rest of you will take the opportunity to do so. I know personally I would not have the job I have now, nor the previous internship experiences with the New York Power Authority, were it not for the connections that I made at the PES-IAS Affinity Group. While I am sad that I will be leaving City College, some of my fondest memories have been working and learning with y'all. I look forward to working with you in the real world and I wish you the best in your studies and future careers.

With Warm Regards,
James L. W. Simko

Congratulations to the newly elected e-board members!
