IEEE Officers, active members, and potential officers. It's time to have another meeting and discuss a few things. Pizza, salad, and beverages will be paid by IEEE Boise Section.

Agenda:

• Fall 2008 Picnic.
• Need to decide on a date.
• Need to reserve a picnic spot (Historically held at the Municipal Park)
• Need to confirm that Boise State IEEE Student Branch Officers' will help us organize the event. IEEE Boise Section will make a donation to the Student Branch and, of course, pay for food, beverages, and park fees.
• Elections. Some of us have reached the term limit (2 years) and we already have vacant positions. Please think about whether you are interested in the following positions:
• Section Chair. I (Dorian Kiri) am the current chair. My term limit ends in October. Need a replacement.
• Vice Chair. Elisa Barney Smith is on sabbatical so I'm assuming this is vacant also.
• Treasurer. Randy Wolff is the current treasurer. In addition he is the acting Secretary. We need a person to take one of Randy's roles.
• PACE Chair. Mark Bussert is the current PACE Chair.
• GOLD Activities Chair. Vacant.
• Membership Chair. Vacant.
• Newsletter. Vacant.
• Web Page: Tyler Waite.

If you or someone you know are interested in ANY of the above positions, please let us know. We can always shuffle people around to different positions. What we would ultimately like is some "new blood" to help us create a more vibrant organization. If there are any student branch officers that have graduated and are still in Boise, we would like to invite you to remain active in the IEEE Boise Section.

We also need to discuss the details. If we can get enough candidates for each position we can actually hold a true election.

• IEEE Sections Congress 2008 will be held in Quebec City, Canada on 19 - 22 September. Can we still do this?  We really needed someone to go to this Congress . I couldn't agree more with the email that Elisa sent me awhile ago:

"Do we have people all lined up to attend this? If my memory holds nobody from Boise went to the last one in Florida. It is a real good way to motivate people to be active volunteers. Whomever is likely to replace Dorian in January should DEFINITELY attend (and we had better start lining up some candidates for that NOW). Some funding comes from the IEEE, some from Region 6 and some we contribute. Last I knew we had plenty enough money to spend on it."

Dr. Rafla, some time ago expressed the desire to attend. At the time, I didn't know what the financial stipulations were, but I finally found out how this works.

The expenses for Sections Congress are:
1. Registration
2. Hotel accommodations + food
3. Travel + food in transit
For the primary delegate, IEEE covers #1 and Region 6 has funds dedicated to #2 and #3. The exact amount available from R6 is unknown to me and #3 will vary from Section to Section. If the sum #2 + #3 for the primary delegate from the Boise Section exceeds the allotment from R6, the Boise Section will be expected to make up the difference.

Tentative Agenda:

• Fall 2008 Picnic (Attention: IEEE Student Branch Officers).
• Did we refund the IEEE Student Branch officers for the expenses? If not, IEEE Student Branch Officers please bring the receipts so we can reimburse you.
• We also promised to give $175.00 to the IEEE Student Club. $75.00 for putting together the Fall 2008 Picnic and an additional one-time $100.00 for the unforeseen communication issues we had trying to pay the Boise State SUB catering during our last IEEE Annual banquet.

• Elections. Some of us have reached the term limit (2 years) and we already have vacant positions. Please think about whether you are interested in the following positions:

• Quick updates/comments on recent events.  IEEE Computer Society, Boise Chapter Fall Banquet 10/22/08, and the IEEE PACE SEMINAR 10/07/08. Any other events?

• We would also like a quick update from the Boise Joint Chapter of the Power Engineering and Industry Applications Societies. Hope some of the officers can make it.
