I'd like to thank all the attendees of the
Boise Section seminar. Special thanks to Carl, Mark (Boise Section PACE chair),
Doug (Region 6 NE Area PACE chair), and the Eastern Idaho Section (for working
with us to share the expenses). I was anxiously waiting to read your responses
and I have to conclude that Carl's
seminar was valuable to most of you. I am glad to hear that we are on the
right track.
To all the attendees in the Boise Section
seminar,
Please reply to me with any specific suggestions you
might have for future seminars (looking for ideas on non-technical topics).
Cheers,
Dorian Kiri
IEEE Boise Section Chair

Subject: Stuff seminar evaluations - IEEE Eastern
Idaho & Boise Sections
10/15/07
Hello IEEE
Idaho seminar attendees,
It was great meeting you last week! I
really appreciated your energy and involvement as we discussed a number of
professional skills that are so important to your effectiveness and happiness in
the real world.
It is now 4-5 working days after our "business
meetings", and, as promised, attached is the tabulation of your evaluations.
(I would have sent them out last Friday, 3-4 days after, but I had a
family emergency, which turned out ok.)
I appreciated the feedback and suggestions, and thanks for all of you who
responded for rating the session either "good" or "excellent". I think you
will be interested in reading the wide-ranging comments by other attendees.
I’ve separated them out by Eastern
Idaho and Boise
sessions, but you can see the similarity of reactions, especially the concerns
about the real world. You are not
alone!
So, how are you doing with any "action items" … on decisions,
managing your priorities, meetings? If you've tackled one or two of
them, or even more, that’s great and you probably feel pretty good. If not
... well, remember, you are responsible for your life. So don't
feel badly, just start taking action.
I
have also attached the list of articles I've written for IEEE Spectrum magazine.
Go through the topics, and click on
one or several that you needed to work on, and read more about topics we talked
about and others that we didn't have time for.
I
look forward to any further comments about anything we discussed. I'm
right here on the other side of your computer to consult on any of the topics we
covered. More info on the seminar and updates in the reading list is at www.carlselinger.com.
Thanks
again for inviting me to your beautiful state, and being such great groups. Hope what we covered makes you more
effective and happier! The best of
luck to each of you!
