I'm sending out a "feeler" to see if we have enough content for a May
newsletter this year. Submissions would need to be sent to me
(sh...@kennedypatents.com) by the last week of April, to go to the
printer the first week of May.
So, at this point I'm asking you to let me know what you would have to
include in the newsletter, and an approximate length/word count of
what you would have. If you could let me know one way or another
regarding what you would have within the next week, I would appreciate
it.
Shane Kennedy
A couple things I can think of would be a write-up of the banquet in
February as well as the area meeting in April. Another thought: we
might want to get a copy of the banquet presentation and post a link to
it on our website as well as a mention in the newsletter.

If we do a newsletter, I would need submissions by the end of April so
I could get it to the printer the first week of May. There tends to
be a two-week delay between getting the submission to the printer and
the printer finishing the newsletter and mailing it out, so the
newsletter would get to the members around mid- to late May.
I haven't gotten enough responses yet to do a newsletter, so I'm going
to send another email out.

At this point I've gotten proposed submissions regarding the student
branch, PES, and the banquet and April meeting. While appreciated, I
don't think these are quite enough to fill a newsletter. If anyone
else has other ideas, please let me know by the end of this week
(sh...@kennedypatents.com). Otherwise we'll go without a May
newsletter this year.
Speak now or forever hold your peace!

I am the General Chair of the 5th Annual IEEE Workshop on
Microelectronics and Electron Devices (WMED) held on Friday, April 20th.
The IEEE Boise Electron Devices Society Chapter sponsors the event. I
would like to prepare a 600-word post-workshop report for inclusion in
the May newsletter for technical exposure. The workshop website is:
http://www.ewh.ieee.org/r6/boise/wmed2007/WMED2007.htm
I love the idea of doing a Section Member spotlight proposed by Shawn
Hilde. I came from the Dallas area two years ago for Micron and the
IEEE newsletter had such a feature. It is a nice way of creating a
stronger rapport between Boise Section members and individual chapters.

1) I volunteered for the 2007 IEEE WMED post-workshop write-up. OK?
Desired word count?
2) I am not an ego-maniac, but I propose that I could do a member
spotlight on myself. I am a Sr. Member (2006), IEEE member for 21
years, Micron Fellow, Micron's Technology CAD Mgr., and have been in
semiconductor industry for 24 years. Please advise.
3) I have been in Boise for only 2 years, so I don't have a feel for any
small electronics-related companies for the company spotlight.

Would you and Shawn be able to put together a member spotlight and a
small company spotlight by the end fo the month? If so, I think we
could have enough for a newsletter.

Then how about Shawn Hilde do a spotlight on Thermistor Inc., a small
local company with which he is fairly familiar.
The articles should have an introduction (note from the editor) saying
that this is a new feature we hope to include in each upcoming article
and people should send the newsletter editor nominations (including
self-nominations) for people and companies to spotlight each quarter.
Hopefully this will bring in other ideas of local companies and member
engineers to highlight in future newsletters so we can do one each
time.

Yes, I'll take this weekend to draft the article for Shane to review on
Monday.
I agree that we should have an intro, but I think one intro would cover
both the company and member spotlights. I can take care of that intro.
