Dear Student,

The World Student Community for Sustainable Development (WSCSD) in partnership with the University of Nairobi and UNEP’s Environmental Education and Training Unit (EETU) is organizing the World Students Summit for Sustainability 2012 to be held at the Multimedia University College, Nairobi, Kenya from 12th – 16th  November, 2012.

The summit will focus on developing a common understanding of a green economy among college students and how youth energy, action and innovation can be harnessed for an enhanced impact in sustainable development. The summit will present a wide range of lectures on the different aspects of sustainability by prominent speakers (plenary and roundtables) as well as student presentations (parallel workshops).  Besides, there are five distinct but interrelated pre-summit and post-summit activities planned for students to get a hands-on work-out on sustainability. These are as follows:

  1. Focus Group discussions
  2. Green Mobile Exhibition
  3. Green Entrepreneurship Workshop
  4. Global Sustainable Village
  5. We Are One Film

All university students from all over the world are invited to participate in the summit. Please look at the attached fliers and the registration page for information on how to get involved.

  • Deadline for Submission of abstracts for papers and Posters is September 10, 2012
  • Deadline for registration in the Green Entrepreneurship Workshop is October 23, 2012
  • Deadline for Submission of Videos for the "We Are One" film September 20, 2012.

Summit website: www.s3nairobi.org.

Kind help circulate,

With thanks,

Environment Professionals’ Group [EPG]: Water, Climate Change and Biodiversity Information Network <http://bit.ly/EnvTalk> was established by Mr. Tek Jung Mahat <http://realisingchange.blogspot.com/> in Nov. 2005 as a voluntary service function, to promote networking and knowledge exchange among concerned professionals at global, regional and local level. Since then, it has developed an alliance of over 685 environment professionals (individuals and institutions) from over 30 countries in Asia, Europe, Australia, Latin and North America. Group’s popularity and supporting activities eventually led to birth of ClimateHimalaya <www.climatehimalaya.org.np/>, an independent 'Himalaya regional initiative' on 5 June 2007.
