South Jerusalem Interfaith Encounter Group - 2 encounters

We held an encounter focused on intergenerational relationships, beginning by exploring the differences between the older and younger generations through food and dietary habits. Participants compared lifestyles of the past and present, noting that longevity in the past was largely linked to a healthy diet based on plants and natural herbs, and a simpler lifestyle.
The discussion also touched on traditional medicine practices. Participants pointed out that the older generation in both societies relied primarily on herbal remedies and natural recipes, and consulting a doctor was generally limited to emergencies. In contrast, participants discussed the younger generation's greater inclination towards modern medicine, readily available medications, and advanced medical technologies.
During the encounter, a clear convergence of experiences emerged between the two societies. Participants observed that the changes between generations are largely similar, and that each generation has its own advantages and challenges. The discussion concluded by emphasizing the importance of drawing on the wisdom of the older generation, alongside utilizing advancements in science and modern medicine, to achieve a healthy balance that enhances quality of life and intergenerational relationships.

We continued our previous topic of intergenerational relations, this time focusing on our relationship with our grandparents. Participants shared what they learned from their grandparents- some talked about them as authority figures in their family, others as a more emotional foundation. Everyone shared how food cooked by their grandmothers was part of their core childhood memories, and we reflected on the connection between the centrality of traditional food in our relationships with older people. We also discussed how younger generations sometimes are less connected to their grandparents, and also enjoy less traditional food, and how these phenomena were interrelated. We heard about different intergenerational connections in Arab and Jewish communities, and also heard from one of the members as she described the relationship with their own grandchildren.
It was an enriching encounter about tradition and continuity.

קבוצת המפגש הבין דתי בדרום ירושלים - שני מפגשים

קיימנו מפגש שהתמקד ביחסים בין-דוריים, כשהתחלנו בבחינת ההבדלים בין הדורות המבוגרים לצעירים דרך מזון והרגלי תזונה. המשתתפים השוו את סגנונות החיים של העבר וההווה, וציינו כי אריכות ימים בעבר הייתה קשורה במידה רבה לתזונה בריאה המבוססת על צמחים ועשבי תיבול טבעיים, ולאורח חיים פשוט יותר.
הדיון נגע גם בפרקטיקות הרפואה המסורתית. המשתתפים ציינו כי הדור המבוגר בשתי החברות הסתמך בעיקר על תרופות צמחיות ומתכונים טבעיים, והתייעצות עם רופא הוגבלה בדרך כלל למקרי חירום. לעומת זאת, המשתתפים דנו בנטייה הגדולה יותר של הדור הצעיר לרפואה מודרנית, תרופות זמינות וטכנולוגיות רפואיות מתקדמות.
במהלך המפגש, התגלו חוויות משותפות בין שתי החברות. נצפה כי השינויים בין הדורות דומים במידה רבה, וכי לכל דור יתרונות ואתגרים משלו. הדיון הסתיים בהדגשת החשיבות של הסתמכות על חוכמת הדור המבוגר, לצד ניצול התקדמות המדע והרפואה המודרנית, כדי להשיג איזון בריא המשפר את איכות החיים ואת היחסים הבין-דוריים.

המשכנו בנושא הקודם שלנו על יחסים בין-דוריים, הפעם התמקדנו ביחסים שלנו עם סבינו וסבתותינו. המשתתפים שיתפו את מה שלמדו מסביהם וסבתותיהם - חלקם דיברו עליהם כדמויות סמכות במשפחתם, אחרים כבסיס רגשי יותר. כולם שיתפו כיצד אוכל שבושל על ידי סבתותיהם היה חלק מזיכרונות הילדות המרכזיים שלהם, והרהרנו בקשר בין מרכזיותו של אוכל מסורתי ביחסים שלנו עם אנשים מבוגרים. דנו גם כיצד דורות צעירים לפעמים פחות מחוברים לסביהם וסבתותיהם, וגם נהנים מאוכל מסורתי פחות, וכיצד תופעות אלו קשורות זו בזו. שמענו על קשרים בין-דוריים שונים בקהילות ערביות ויהודיות, וגם שמענו מאחת החברים שתיארה את הקשר עם נכדיה.
זה היה מפגש מעשיר על מסורת והמשכיות.

مجموعة اللقاء بين الديانات في جنوب القدس - لقائين

عُقد لقاء خُصّص لموضوع العلاقات بين الأجيال، حيث بدأنا باستكشاف الفروقات بين الجيل الأكبر والجيل الأصغر من خلال الطعام والعادات الغذائية. قارن المشاركون بين أنماط الحياة في الماضي والحاضر، وأشاروا إلى أن طول العمر في السابق كان مرتبطًا إلى حدّ كبير بنظام غذائي صحي يعتمد على النباتات والأعشاب الطبيعية، إضافة إلى أسلوب حياة أبسط. كما تطرّق النقاش إلى ممارسات الطبّ التقليدي، حيث أوضح المشاركون أن الجيل الأكبر في كلا المجتمعين كان يعتمد بشكل أساسي على العلاجات العشبية والوصفات الطبيعية، وأن اللجوء إلى الطبيب كان غالبًا مقتصرًا على حالات الطوارئ. في المقابل، ناقش المشاركون ميل الجيل الأصغر إلى الطب الحديث، والأدوية المتوفّرة بسهولة، والتقنيات الطبية المتقدّمة.
وخلال اللقاء، برز تقارب واضح في التجارب بين المجتمعين، إذ لاحظ المشاركون أن التغيّرات بين الأجيال متشابهة إلى حدّ كبير، وأن لكل جيل مزاياه وتحدّياته الخاصة. واختُتم النقاش بالتأكيد على أهمية الاستفادة من حكمة الجيل الأكبر، إلى جانب توظيف التقدّم العلمي والطب الحديث، من أجل تحقيق توازن صحي يُسهم في تحسين جودة الحياة وتعزيز العلاقات بين الأجيال.

واصلنا في هذا اللقاء موضوع العلاقات بين الأجيال، مع التركيز هذه المرّة على علاقتنا بأجدادنا وجدّاتنا. شارك المشاركون بما تعلّموه من أجدادهم؛ فالبعض تحدّث عنهم كسلطة مركزية داخل العائلة، فيما رآهم آخرون كمصدر عاطفي وداعم أساسي. وأجمع الجميع على أن الطعام الذي كانت تطهوه الجدّات يشكّل جزءًا جوهريًا من ذكريات الطفولة، وتأمّلنا معًا في العلاقة بين مركزية الطعام التقليدي وصلتنا بكبار السن. كما ناقشنا كيف أن الأجيال الأصغر أحيانًا تكون أقل ارتباطًا بأجدادها، وتستهلك قدرًا أقل من الطعام التقليدي، وكيف أن هاتين الظاهرتين مترابطتان. استمعنا إلى تجارب مختلفة للعلاقات بين الأجيال في المجتمعين العربي واليهودي، كما شاركت إحدى العضوات تجربتها الشخصية في علاقتها بأحفادها.
كان اللقاء غنيًا ومُلهمًا، تناول مفاهيم التقليد والاستمرارية، وأبرز أهميتهما في بناء الروابط بين الأجيال.
