New Testament Study Group in Jerusalem - 2 encounters

Since we met just before Yom Kippur, we started our conversation on how this feast is (or is not) celebrated in Messianic Jewish communities. Christianity does not have a feast like Yom Kippur, whereas it is the most important Jewish feast. Afterwards we had an open conversation on how Christians related differently to Jews and Jewish communities. Some Christians do have the desire that Jews convert to Christianity, whereas others think that Jews should keep their own traditions. With the history of forced conversions of Jews, this is still a very sensitive topic, which is also experienced differently within the Jewish community. Although we did not discuss a text from the New Testament, we had a good and interesting time together!

 

October 27th, 2025

The New Testament study group met at the house of one of the participants for another study session. We started our encounter by talking about our practices of prayer. In Judaism people pray with a prayer book and there is a fixed daily rhythm of prayer. In some denominations of Christianity there are also fixed prayers. However, there are also denominations in which people pray their own prayers. The advantage is that you can just say to God what’s on your heart, but it also depends a lot on your own motivation if you pray or not.

After this we continued our study of the book of Acts, this time we studied Acts 5:1-11. This was a quite shocking story about a couple called Ananias and Saphira. They sold their land (like many other early followers of Jesus did) and wanted to give money for the church. However, they pretended to give the entire sum of money, while giving only a part of the money. For this lie, both of them were killed. We talked about their motivation not to tell the truth about the percentage of the money they were giving. Did they want to pretend they were as good as the others? Or did they want to show off? It would have been good if they only had given a part of the money, but they decided differently. We had a vivid discussion on these matters.

קבוצת לימוד הברית החדשה בירושלים - 2 מפגשים

מכיוון שנפגשנו ממש לפני יום כיפור, התחלנו את שיחתנו על האופן שבו חג זה נחגג (או לא נחגג) בקהילות יהודיות משיחיות. לנצרות אין חג כמו יום כיפור, בעוד שהוא החג היהודי החשוב ביותר. לאחר מכן קיימנו שיחה פתוחה על האופן שבו נוצרים מתייחסים בצורה שונה ליהודים ולקהילות יהודיות. לחלק מהנוצרים יש רצון שיהודים יתנצרו, בעוד שאחרים חושבים שיהודים צריכים לשמור על המסורות שלהם. עם ההיסטוריה של גיור כפוי של יהודים, זה עדיין נושא רגיש מאוד, שנחווה בצורה שונה גם בתוך הקהילה היהודית. למרות שלא דנו בטקסט מהברית החדשה, היה לנו זמן טוב ומעניין יחד!

קבוצת לימוד הברית החדשה נפגשה בביתו של אחד המשתתפים למפגש לימוד נוסף. התחלנו את מפגשנו בדיון על מנהגי התפילה שלנו. ביהדות מתפללים עם ספר תפילה ויש קצב תפילה יומי קבוע. גם בחלק מהזרמים הנוצריים יש תפילות קבועות. עם זאת, ישנם גם זרמים שבהם אנשים מתפללים את תפילותיהם בעצמם. היתרון הוא שאתה יכול פשוט לומר לאלוהים את אשר על ליבך, אך זה תלוי גם הרבה במוטיבציה שלך אם אתה מתפלל או לא.

לאחר מכן המשכנו את לימוד ספר מעשי השליחים, הפעם למדנו את מעשי השליחים ה':1-11. זה היה סיפור די מזעזע על זוג בשם חנניה וספירה. הם מכרו את אדמתם (כמו שעשו רבים אחרים מחסידיו הראשונים של ישוע) ורצו לתת כסף לכנסייה. עם זאת, הם העמידו פנים שהם נותנים את כל סכום הכסף, תוך שהם נותנים רק חלק מהכסף. על שקר זה, שניהם נהרגו. דיברנו על המוטיבציה שלהם לא לומר את האמת לגבי אחוז הכסף שהם נותנים. האם הם רצו להעמיד פנים שהם טובים כמו האחרים? או שהם רצו להשוויץ? היה טוב אם היו נותנים רק חלק מהכסף, אך הם החליטו אחרת. ניהלנו דיון ער בנושאים אלה.

مجموعة دراسة العهد الجديد في القدس – لقاءان

بما أن اللقاء عُقد قبل يوم الغفران مباشرة، بدأنا حديثنا حول كيفية الاحتفال بهذا العيد (أو عدم الاحتفال به) في المجتمعات اليهودية المسيحانية. لا يوجد في المسيحية عيد مشابه ليوم الغفران، بينما يُعدّ هذا العيد الأهم في اليهودية.

بعد ذلك أجرينا نقاشًا مفتوحًا حول الطريقة التي ينظر بها المسيحيون إلى اليهود وإلى المجتمعات اليهودية. بعض المسيحيين يرغبون بأن يعتنق اليهود المسيحية، بينما يعتقد آخرون أن على اليهود الحفاظ على تقاليدهم الدينية. ومع تاريخ طويل من محاولات تنصير اليهود بالقوة، يبقى هذا الموضوع حساسًا جدًا، وتختلف طريقة التعامل معه حتى داخل المجتمع اليهودي نفسه. رغم أننا لم ندرس نصًا من العهد الجديد في هذا اللقاء، إلا أننا قضينا وقتًا ممتعًا ومليئًا بالاهتمام!

27 تشرين الأول 2025

اجتمعت مجموعة دراسة العهد الجديد في منزل أحد المشاركين للدرس التالي. بدأنا لقاءنا بمناقشة حول عادات الصلاة لدينا. ففي اليهودية، الصلاة تُقام باستخدام كتاب صلوات وبوتيرة يومية ثابتة. وفي بعض الطوائف المسيحية توجد أيضًا صلوات ثابتة ومنظّمة. ومع ذلك، هناك طوائف أخرى يصلّي فيها الأشخاص بكلماتهم الخاصة. ميزة هذا النوع من الصلاة أنه يمكنك أن تقول لله ما في قلبك مباشرة، لكنه يعتمد كثيرًا على دافعك الداخلي للالتزام بالصلاة.

بعد ذلك واصلنا دراسة سفر أعمال الرسل، وهذه المرة قرأنا أعمال الرسل 5: 1-11. كان النص قصة صادمة إلى حدّ ما عن زوجين يُدعيان حنانيا وسفيرة. فقد باعا أرضهما (كما فعل كثيرون من أتباع يسوع الأوائل) وأرادا تقديم المال للكنيسة. لكنّهما ادّعيا زورًا أنهما قدّما المبلغ كاملًا، بينما قدّما جزءًا منه فقط. وبسبب هذا الكذب، لقي الاثنان حتفهما.
تحدّثنا عن دوافعهما لعدم قول الحقيقة بشأن المبلغ الذي قدّماه؛ هل أرادا الظهور بمظهر الصالحين مثل الآخرين؟ أم كان الهدف التفاخر؟ كان بإمكانهما تقديم جزء من المال فقط، لكنهما اختارا غير ذلك.
