[IEA updates] Interfaith Encounter group for Teens in Jerusalem (EN/HE/AR)

Interfaith Encounter group for Teens in Jerusalem- January 28th, 2026

The group of Arab and Jewish teenagers, met to discuss rain and their experiences during rainy days. The group, consisting of seven teenagers, talked about their relationship with the weather and its impact on their daily lives. Most participants explained that they disliked the rain because it made them feel lethargic, and the shorter days disrupted their activities and plans. For example, if there was a football practice, they often missed it, as it was either canceled or postponed due to the rain.

 

When asked about snow, the conversation shifted dramatically. Almost everyone expressed their love for it, despite the cold, because it provided an opportunity to play, have fun, and break the routine. However, another point raised was that power outages, especially in some Arab towns, increased during this season, sometimes causing frustration and anger.

 

They also talked about their favorite foods during this weather. Most of the Arab participants mentioned mansaf as a suitable dish for such conditions, describing it as warming and hearty. It typically consists of rice and lamb, cooked with jameed (dried yogurt), which gives it its distinctive flavor. Often served at family gatherings and celebrations, it symbolizes generosity, warmth, and coming together over food. Mention of mansaf sparked a discussion about kosher dietary laws, with participants explaining that its preparation method is not suitable for Jewish dietary laws. Other dishes, such as white beans with meat, were also mentioned as favorite winter foods.

 

The Jewish participants said they prefer soups, such as lentil and vegetable soup. Others mentioned chestnuts, pastries, hot chocolate, and sahlab (a traditional winter drink) as foods and drinks associated with warmth.

 

Despite the rain, the gathering was pleasant and warm, filled with genuine conversation, sharing, and even lighthearted banter among the participants, providing a wonderful opportunity for connection, camaraderie, and the exchange of experiences. The participants agreed that the next encounter would be about kosher food and halal food.

קבוצת המפגש הבין דתי לבני נוער בירושלים- 28.1.2026

הקבוצה של בני נוער ערבים ויהודים, נפגשה כדי לדון בגשם ובחוויותיהם בימים גשומים. הקבוצה, עם שבעה בני נוער, דיברה על מערכת היחסים שלהם עם מזג האוויר והשפעתו על חיי היומיום שלהם. רוב המשתתפים הסבירו שהם לא אוהבים את הגשם משום שהוא גורם להם להרגיש עייפים, והימים הקצרים יותר שיבשו את פעילותם ותכניותיהם. לדוגמה, אם היה אימון כדורגל, הם לעתים קרובות החמיצו אותו, מכיוון שהוא בוטל או נדחה בגלל הגשם.

 

כאשר נשאלו על שלג, השיחה השתנתה באופן דרמטי. כמעט כולם הביעו את אהבתם אליו, למרות הקור, משום שהוא סיפק הזדמנות לשחק, ליהנות ולשבור את השגרה. עם זאת, נקודה נוספת שהועלתה הייתה שהפסקות חשמל, במיוחד בכמה ערים ערביות, גברו בעונה זו, ולעיתים גרמו לתסכול וכעס.

 

הם דיברו גם על המאכלים האהובים עליהם במזג אוויר זה. רוב המשתתפים הערבים הזכירו את המנסף כמאכל מתאים לתנאים כאלה, ותיארו אותו כמחמם ומשביע. הוא מורכב בדרך כלל מאורז וכבש, מבושל עם ג'מיד (יוגורט מיובש), המעניק לו את טעמו הייחודי. לעתים קרובות הוא מוגש במפגשים משפחתיים וחגיגות, והוא מסמל נדיבות, חמימות והתכנסות סביב אוכל. אזכור המנסף עורר דיון על חוקי כשרות, כאשר המשתתפים הסבירו ששיטות ההכנה שלו לא מתאימות לחוקי הכשרות היהודיים. מאכלים אחרים, כמו שעועית לבנה עם בשר, הוזכרו גם הם כמאכלי חורף אהובים.

 

המשתתפים היהודים אמרו שהם מעדיפים מרקים, כמו מרק עדשים וירקות, ורבים הזכירו את אהבתם לסוגי מרקים שונים. אחרים הזכירו ערמונים, מאפים, שוקו חם וסחלב (משקה חורף מסורתי) כמאכלים ומשקאות המקושרים לחום ולחורף.

 

למרות הגשם, המפגש היה נעים וחם, מלא בשיחה אמיתית, שיתוף ואפילו בדיחות קלילות בין המשתתפים, וסיפק הזדמנות נפלאה לחיבור, אחווה וחילופי חוויות. המשתתפים הסכימו שהמפגש הבא יעסוק באוכל כשר ואוכל חלאל.

اللقاء بين الديانات ومجموعة اليافعين في القدس - 28.1.2026

التقت المجموعة معًا، وضمّت مراهقين عربًا ويهودًا، وكان موضوع اللقاء عن المطر وما يفعلونه خلال الأيام الماطرة. تكوّنت المجموعة من سبعة مراهقين، وتحدّثوا عن علاقتهم بالطقس وتأثيره على حياتهم اليومية. أوضح معظم المشاركين أنهم لا يفضّلون المطر، لأنه يجعلهم يشعرون بالكسل، كما أن قِصر النهار يؤثّر على أنشطتهم ويُربك برامجهم. فعلى سبيل المثال، إذا كان هناك تدريب لكرة القدم، غالبًا لا يذهبون إليه، ويُلغى أو يُؤجَّل بسبب المطر.

 

وعندما سُئلوا عن الثلج، تغيّر الحديث بشكل ملحوظ؛ إذ عبّر الجميع تقريبًا عن حبّهم له رغم شدّة البرد، لأنه يتيح لهم فرصة اللعب والمرح وكسر الروتين. في المقابل، طُرح رأي آخر أشار إلى أن هذا الفصل تزداد فيه احتمالية انقطاع الكهرباء، خاصة في بعض البلدات العربية، الأمر الذي يسبّب شعورًا بالغضب والانزعاج أحيانًا.

 

كما طُرح سؤال حول الأطعمة التي يفضّلونها في هذا الطقس. فأخبر معظم المشاركين العرب أن المنسف هو من الوجبات المناسبة لمثل هذه الأجواء، إذ يُعتبر وجبة دافئة وغنية. ويتكوّن عادةً من الأرز ولحم الخروف ويُطهى مع لبن الجميد الذي يمنحه طعمه المميّز. وغالبًا ما يُقدَّم في المناسبات والاجتماعات العائلية، ويرمز إلى الكرم والدفء والتجمّع حول الطعام. وأثار ذكر المنسف نقاشًا حول مسألة الكاشير، إذ أوضح المشاركون أن بعض مكوّناته أو طريقة تحضيره قد لا تكون ملائمة للشريعة اليهودية. كما ذُكرت أطباق أخرى مثل الفاصولياء البيضاء باللحمة كأطعمة شتوية مفضّلة.

 

أما المشاركون اليهود، فأخبروا أنهم يفضّلون الشوربات، مثل شوربة العدس والخضار، وأشار العديد منهم إلى حبّهم لتناول الشوربات بمختلف أنواعها. كما ذكر آخرون الكستناء، والمخبوزات، والشوكولاتة الساخنة، والسحلب كأطعمة ومشروبات مرتبطة بالدفء والشتاء.

 

ورغم أن الجو كان ماطرًا، إلا أن اللقاء كان جميلًا ودافئًا، مليئًا بالحديث الصادق والمشاركة وحتى المزاح اللطيف بين المشاركين، وشكّل فرصة رائعة للتواصل والتقارب وتبادل التجارب. واتفق المشاركون على أن يكون اللقاء القادم حول موضوع الطعام الكاشير والطعام الحلال.
