Mount Scopus Interfaith Encounter Group- January 29, 2026

The group met on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem, bringing together Muslim, Jewish, and Christian participants. The encounter focused on the relations between humans and animals and the importance of kindness towards them.

 

At the beginning of the encounter, each participant shared their favorite animals. One participant mentioned that he was afraid of dogs because of a past dog bite, but despite this, he expressed his love for animals and his desire to avoid harming them. A Jewish participant told us about his deep love for his dog, but explained that it was currently going through a difficult time finding a loving and caring home for it, and he had already begun the search.

 

The discussion then shifted to animal welfare from a religious perspective, with each participant sharing their faith's teachings on the subject. Some Muslim participants pointed out that harming animals is a moral and religious transgression, and that those who harm animals may be held accountable. This sparked curiosity and surprise among some of the Jewish participants and opened the door to a deep and fruitful discussion. The Muslim participants continued their discussion on how Islam encourages compassion towards animals, emphasizing that kindness to animals is an integral part of religious and human ethics. They cited religious examples that underscore gentleness and the avoidance of cruelty, such as the call to feed and water animals, not to overburden them, and to treat them with compassion even when they are used for work or other purposes.

 

The Jewish participants shared their religious and ethical perspective, which emphasizes the prohibition of harming animals without cause and respecting them as part of creation, for whose care God has entrusted humanity. They noted that kindness to animals reflects a profound moral commitment and is considered a fundamental human value rooted in Jewish teachings, which advocate justice and compassion towards all creatures.

 

From a Christian perspective, they affirmed that animals should be viewed as part of God's creation, deserving of respect and care. They explained that compassion for animals is an extension of humanity's love for all of creation, and that humans are called to be faithful in their care for the world around them, including animals, as an expression of love and moral responsibility. This diversity of religious perspectives contributed to deepening the dialogue and demonstrated that compassion for animals constitutes common ground among the three religions, reflecting universal human values ​​that transcend religious differences.

הקבוצה נפגשה בהר הצופים בירושלים, עם משתתפים מוסלמים, יהודים ונוצרים. המפגש התמקד בקשר בין בני אדם לבעלי חיים ובחשיבות החסד כלפיהם.

 

בתחילת המפגש, כל משתתף שיתף לגבי בעלי החיים האהובים עליו. משתתף אחד הזכיר שהוא פוחד מכלבים בגלל נשיכת כלב בעבר, אך למרות זאת, הוא הביע את אהבתו לבעלי חיים ואת רצונו להימנע מפגיעה בהם. משתתף יהודי סיפר לנו על אהבתו העמוקה לכלבו, אך הסביר שהוא עובר כעת תקופה קשה במציאת בית אוהב ודואג עבורו, והוא כבר החל בחיפוש.

مجموعة اللقاء بين الديانات  في جبل المشارف 29 كانون الثاني 2026

اجتمعت مجموعة اللقاء بين الديانات في جبل المشارف في القدس، بمشاركة مسلمين ويهود ومسيحيين. تمحور اللقاء حول العلاقة بين الإنسان والحيوان، وأهمية الرفق بالحيوان.

 

في بداية اللقاء، شارك كل مشارك الحيوان المفضل لديه. أشار أحد المشاركين إلى خوفه من الكلاب بسبب تعرضه لعضة في السابق، إلا أنه عبّر رغم ذلك عن حبه للحيوانات ورغبته في عدم إيذائها. كما تحدث أحد المشاركين اليهود عن حبه الكبير لكلبه، موضحًا أنه يمر حاليًا بمرحلة صعبة في محاولة إيجاد منزل مناسب له، وقد بدأ بالفعل في البحث.

 

انتقل النقاش بعد ذلك إلى موضوع الرفق بالحيوان من منظور ديني، حيث شارك المشاركون تعاليم دياناتهم المختلفة في هذا السياق. أشار بعض المشاركين العرب إلى أن إيذاء الحيوان يُعد مخالفة أخلاقية ودينية، وأن من يؤذي الحيوانات قد يُحاسب على ذلك. وقد أثار هذا الطرح اهتمام بعض المشاركين اليهود وفتح المجال لنقاش معمّق.

 

واصل المشاركون المسلمون الحديث حول كيفية تشجيع الإسلام على الرحمة بالحيوان، مؤكدين أن الرفق بالحيوان يُعد جزءًا أساسيًا من الأخلاق الدينية والإنسانية. كما أشاروا إلى أمثلة دينية تؤكد على ضرورة إطعام الحيوانات وسقيها، وعدم تحميلها ما لا تطيق، والتعامل معها برحمة حتى عند استخدامها لأغراض العمل أو غيرها.

 

من جانبهم، عرض المشاركون اليهود رؤيتهم الدينية والأخلاقية، التي تؤكد على تحريم إيذاء الحيوان دون سبب، وضرورة احترامه كجزء من الخليقة التي أوكل الله للإنسان مسؤولية رعايتها. وأشاروا إلى أن الرفق بالحيوان يُعد قيمة إنسانية أساسية تعكس التزامًا أخلاقيًا عميقًا متجذرًا في التعاليم اليهودية.

 

أما من المنظور المسيحي، فقد أكد المشاركون أن الحيوانات تُعد جزءًا من خلق الله وتستحق الاحترام والرعاية. وأوضحوا أن الرحمة بالحيوان تُعتبر امتدادًا لمحبة الإنسان للخليقة، وأن الإنسان مدعو لتحمل مسؤولية أخلاقية في رعاية العالم من حوله، بما في ذلك الحيوانات، كجزء من التزامه الإنساني.

 

وقد ساهم هذا التنوع في وجهات النظر الدينية في تعميق الحوار، وأظهر أن الرحمة بالحيوان تُشكّل أرضية مشتركة بين الديانات الثلاث، وتعكس قيمًا إنسانية تتجاوز الاختلافات الدينية.
