Online New Testament Study Group- 3 encounters

 

December 31st, 2025

On the last evening of 2025, the New Testament online study group met on Zoom. We started with an exchange about Christian New Year’s traditions. Protestant churches very often have a church service on the last evening of the year, sometimes also commemorating those who passed away. In the Roman Catholic Church they sing the Te Deum as a song of praise for the past year.

 

Then we moved to start a new chapter of our book, Luke 13:1-9. This passage speaks about two events that happened around that time and to which Jesus alludes. The first is about Pilate who mixed the blood of some Galileans with their sacrifices. This was a terrible humiliation. The question is also why Pilate did this. Other non-Biblical sources also tell that he caused unrest because of several of his actions. The second event is the fall of the tower of Siloam in which 18 people died. Jesus tells the people that they have to repent. We talked about the necessity of repentance and humility.

 

At the end of our encounter, we also discussed Pirkei Avot 2:10. It says that you have to warm yourself by the fire of the sages, but you have to be careful of their glowing coals, in order not to be burnt. It could mean you shouldn’t get too close to the sages and know your place. Another explanation is that you need to understand the wisdom and disagreements among the sages together, but that you shouldn’t just cherry-pick their teachings. Another part of the saying was ‘Repent one day before your death’, which connected well to the passage we studied in Luke. It was a nice way to end this year by studying together.

 

January 19th, 2026

Together we first studied Luke 13, verse 10-21. This passage speaks about the healing of a woman on Sabbath. The location of the healing is a synagogue, where Jesus used to go on Sabbath. This woman was already crippled for 18 years. We talked about this healing on sabbath in the light of later Jewish tradition, which says that you may only treat someone when its life threatening, but there is discussion about this matter in Jewish tradition. Jesus also participates in this discussion. He takes arguments from Torah to make his point.

 

We also talked about Pirkei Avot 2,11. This saying of rabbi Yehoshua says that ‘the evil eye, the evil impulse, and hatred of human kind drive a person out of the world’. The evil eye is interpreted as envy of others. We also talked about the value of friendship in this context.

 

February 17th, 2026

We discussed Luke 13:22-30. Somebody asked Jesus if only a few people are going to be saved. Jesus answers the people to make every effort to enter through the door. One of the participants noticed that the question is about the future, but that Jesus’ answer is about the now. The text also draws a sharp distinction between those who are in and outside the Kingdom of God. We also talked about the Jewish belief in the gathering of the exiles and whether this belief is also in the New Testament or not because this text speaks about those coming from the north, south, east and west.

 

As always, we also discussed a saying from Pirkei Avot, this time 2,12. It speaks about three things: 1) the study of Torah which needs commitment and passion; 2) taking care of the stuff from people around you; 3) doing everything for the sake of heaven, which addresses the intention with which we do things.

קבוצת לימוד מקוונת של הברית החדשה - 3 מפגשים

בערב האחרון של 2025, קבוצת הלימוד המקוונת של הברית החדשה נפגשה בזום. התחלנו בשיחה על מסורות ראש השנה הנוצריות. כנסיות פרוטסטנטיות מקיימות לעתים קרובות טקס בכנסייה בערב האחרון של השנה, ולפעמים גם לזכר הנפטרים. בכנסייה הקתולית שרים את ה-Te Deum כשיר הלל לשנה האחרונה.

 

לאחר מכן עברנו להתחיל פרק חדש בספרנו, לוקס י"ג:1-9. קטע זה מדבר על שני אירועים שהתרחשו בערך באותה תקופה ואשר אליהם רומז ישוע. הראשון מדבר על פילטוס שערבב את דמם של כמה גליליים עם קורבנותיהם. זו הייתה השפלה נוראית. השאלה היא גם מדוע פילטוס עשה זאת. מקורות אחרים שאינם מקראיים מספרים גם הם שהוא גרם לאי שקט בגלל כמה ממעשיו. האירוע השני הוא נפילת מגדל השילוח שבה מתו 18 איש. ישוע אומר לאנשים שעליהם לחזור בתשובה. דיברנו על הצורך בתשובה ובענווה.

 

בסוף המפגש שלנו, דנו גם בפרקי אבות ב':י'. שם נאמר שעליך להתְחַמֵּם כְּנֶגֶד אוּרָן שֶׁל חֲכָמִים, אך עליך להיזהר "וֶהֱוֵי זָהִיר בְּגַחַלְתָּן שֶׁלֹּא תִכָּוֶה". אולי הכוונה היא שאסור להתקרב יותר מדי לחכמים ועליך לדעת את מקומך. הסבר נוסף הוא שצריך להבין את החוכמה והמחלוקות שבין החכמים יחד, אך לא לבחור מכל אחד את מה שנח. חלק נוסף באמרה היה 'וְשׁוּב יוֹם אֶחָד לִפְנֵי מִיתָתָךְ', שהתחבר היטב לקטע שלמדנו בלוקס. זו הייתה דרך נחמדה לסיים את השנה הזו בלימוד משותף

 

19 בינואר, 2026

יחד למדנו לראשונה את לוקס י"ג, פסוקים י'-כ"א. קטע זה מדבר על ריפוי של אישה בשבת. מקום הריפוי הוא בית כנסת, לשם נהג ישוע ללכת בשבת. האישה הזו הייתה נכה כבר 18 שנה. דיברנו על ריפוי זה בשבת לאור המסורת היהודית המאוחרת יותר, שאומרת שמותר לטפל במישהו רק כאשר מדובר בסכנת חיים, אך יש דיון בנושא זה במסורת היהודית. וישוע גם הוא משתתף בדיון הזה. הוא לוקח טיעונים מהתורה כדי להבהיר את טענתו.

 

דיברנו גם על פרקי אבות ב', יא. אמרה זו של רבי יהושע אומרת ש"עַיִן הָרָע, וְיֵצֶר הָרָע, וְשִׂנְאַת הַבְּרִיּוֹת, מוֹצִיאִין אֶת הָאָדָם מִן הָעוֹלָם". עין הרע מתפרשת כקנאה באחרים. דיברנו גם על ערך החברות בהקשר זה.

 

17 בפברואר, 2025

דנו בלוקס י"ג:22-30. מישהו שאל את ישוע אם רק מעטים עומדים להיוושע. ישוע עונה לאנשים לעשות כל מאמץ להיכנס דרך הדלת. אחד המשתתפים שם לב שהשאלה היא על העתיד, אך תשובתו של ישוע היא על הרגע הנוכחי. הטקסט גם מבחין באופן חד בין אלו הנמצאים בתוך ומחוץ למלכות האלוהים. דיברנו גם על האמונה היהודית בקיבוץ הגלויות והאם אמונה זו נמצאת גם בברית החדשה או לא, מכיוון שהטקסט מדבר על אלו הבאים מצפון, דרום, מזרח ומערב.

 

כמו תמיד, דנו גם בפתגם מפרקי אבות, הפעם ב',יב'. הוא מדבר על שלושה דברים: 1) לימוד התורה הדורש מחויבות ותשוקה; 2) טיפול בדברים של אנשים סביבך; 3) עשיית הכל למען שמים, המתייחסת לכוונה שבה אנו עושים דברים.

مجموعة دراسة العهد الجديد عبر الإنترنت - 3 لقاءات

في مساء اليوم الأخير من عام 2025، اجتمعت مجموعة دراسة العهد الجديد عبر الإنترنت عبر زوم. بدأنا بتبادل الحديث حول تقاليد رأس السنة لدى المسيحيين. ففي الكنائس البروتستانتية غالبًا ما تُقام صلاة في مساء اليوم الأخير من السنة، وأحيانًا يتم خلالها أيضًا إحياء ذكرى الذين توفوا. أما في الكنيسة الكاثوليكية الرومانية فيُنشدون ترنيمة ديوم كأغنية تسبيح وشكر على العام الذي مضى.

 

بعد ذلك بدأنا فصلًا جديدًا من كتابنا، لوقا 13: 1–9. يتحدث هذا المقطع عن حدثين وقعا في ذلك الوقت ويشير إليهما يسوع. الحدث الأول يتعلق ببيلاطس الذي مزج دم بعض الجليليين بذبائحهم، وكان ذلك إذلالًا شديدًا. كما طُرح سؤال حول سبب قيام بيلاطس بذلك. وتذكر مصادر غير كتابية أيضًا أنه تسبب في اضطرابات بسبب عدة أفعال قام بها. أما الحدث الثاني فهو سقوط برج سلوام الذي قُتل فيه 18 شخصًا. يقول يسوع للناس إن عليهم أن يتوبوا، وإلا فسيكون مصيرهم مثلهم. وتحدثنا عن ضرورة التوبة والتواضع.

 

وفي نهاية اللقاء ناقشنا أيضًا بركيه أفوت 2:10، حيث يقول النص إنه ينبغي للإنسان أن يتدفأ بنار الحكماء، لكنه يجب أن يحذر من جمراتهم المتقدة حتى لا يحترق. وقد يعني ذلك أنه لا ينبغي الاقتراب أكثر من اللازم من الحكماء وأن يعرف الإنسان مكانه. وتفسير آخر يقول إنه ينبغي فهم حكمة الحكماء وخلافاتهم معًا، وألا يكتفي الإنسان باختيار تعليم واحد فقط منهم. كما ورد في النص أيضًا القول: “تب قبل يوم من موتك”، وهو ما ارتبط جيدًا بالمقطع الذي درسناه من إنجيل لوقا. وكانت طريقة جميلة لإنهاء هذا العام بالدراسة المشتركة.

 

19 كانون الثاني 2026
درسنا معًا أولًا لوقا 13: 10–21. يتحدث هذا المقطع عن شفاء امرأة في يوم السبت. حدث الشفاء في مجمع، حيث كان يسوع يذهب عادة في يوم السبت. وكانت هذه المرأة منحنية منذ 18 عامًا. تحدثنا عن هذا الشفاء في يوم السبت في ضوء التقليد اليهودي اللاحق، الذي يقول إنه يُسمح بمعالجة المريض فقط عندما تكون حياته في خطر، رغم وجود نقاشات حول هذا الموضوع في التقليد اليهودي. كما أن يسوع يشارك في هذا النقاش، إذ يستخدم حججًا من التوراة لتوضيح موقفه.

 

كما تحدثنا عن بركيه أفوت 2:11، حيث يقول الحاخام يهوشوع إن العين الشريرة، والدافع الشرير، وكراهية البشر تُخرج الإنسان من العالم. وتُفسَّر العين الشريرة على أنها الحسد للآخرين. كما تحدثنا عن قيمة الصداقة في هذا السياق.

 

17 شباط 2025
ناقشنا لوقا 13: 22–30. فقد سأل أحد الأشخاص يسوع إن كان عدد قليل فقط من الناس سينالون الخلاص. فأجاب يسوع داعيًا الناس إلى بذل كل جهد للدخول من الباب. ولاحظ أحد المشاركين أن السؤال يتعلق بالمستقبل، بينما يركّز جواب يسوع على الحاضر. كما يوضح النص تمييزًا حادًا بين من هم داخل ملكوت الله ومن هم خارجه.

 

وتحدثنا أيضًا عن الاعتقاد اليهودي بجمع الشتات، وما إذا كان هذا الاعتقاد موجودًا أيضًا في العهد الجديد أم لا، لأن النص يتحدث عن أناس سيأتون من الشمال والجنوب والشرق والغرب.

 

وكما في كل مرة، ناقشنا أيضًا قولًا من بركيه أفوت، وهذه المرة من 2:12، الذي يتحدث عن ثلاثة أمور: ١) دراسة التوراة التي تحتاج إلى التزام وشغف. ٢) الاهتمام بممتلكات الأشخاص من حولك. ٣) القيام بكل شيء من أجل السماء، أي النية التي نقوم بها بالأعمال.
