January 7, 2026

A group of Muslims from Jabel Mukaber and Jews from Nof Zion in Jerusalem met for a conversation on honoring and respecting parents in Islam and Judaism.

 

The participants discussed the status of parents in Islam, where honoring parents is considered one of the greatest religious and human values. In religious texts, it is linked to obedience to God, with an emphasis on respect, care, and kindness, especially in old age. In Islam, the mother holds a higher position than the father due to her sacrifices for her children. The Jewish participants were surprised by the low number of nursing homes among Muslims and the general disapproval of such institutions.

 

The Jewish participants also talked about the importance of honoring parents in Judaism, describing it as a central commandment that expresses gratitude and preserves family and moral values ​​across generations. The discussion revealed a clear convergence between the two religions in emphasizing respect, compassion, and responsibility towards parents. Participants agreed that these shared values ​​form a unifying human foundation, fostering closeness and understanding among people and highlighting what unites them more than what divides them.

 

February 17, 2026

The group met again, in Jerusalem. Since the month of Ramadan was approaching for Muslims, the focus of the encounter was the holy month of Ramadan and how its beginning is determined in Islam. The discussion revolved around the various methods for determining the start of Ramadan, primarily the sighting of the new moon, in addition to relying on astronomical calculations, and the accompanying jurisprudential differences among Islamic schools of thought. Conversely, the Jewish participants addressed Judaism, where the Hebrew calendar is also based on the lunar cycle, and the beginnings of months and holidays are determined according to precise astronomical calculations, with historical and jurisprudential discussions surrounding the sighting and calculation methods. This similarity highlighted how both religions link religious time to the lunar cycle, and the spiritual and organizational dimensions this holds for religious life.

 

The Muslim participants also addressed the religious and spiritual aspects of Ramadan, the month of fasting and piety, and discussed its social impact, emphasizing the values ​​of solidarity, patience, self-discipline, and sharing with others. Questions and personal experiences about Ramadan traditions in different homes and communities were exchanged, fostering a deeper understanding of the diversity within the Muslim community itself and the role Ramadan plays in the daily lives of Muslims. The encounter provided an opportunity to learn about and delve into some of the Muslim customs during Ramadan, eliciting both surprise and respect from others.

קבוצת המוסלמים מג'בל מוכבר והיהודים מנוף ציון בירושלים נפגשה לשיחה בנושא כיבוד הורים באסלאם וביהדות.

 

המשתתפים דנו במעמד ההורים באסלאם, שם כיבוד הורים נחשב לאחד הערכים הדתיים והאנושיים הגדולים ביותר. בטקסטים דתיים, הוא מקושר לציות לאלוהים, עם דגש על כבוד, דאגה וחסד, במיוחד בגיל מבוגר. באסלאם, לאם יש מעמד גבוה יותר מאשר לאב בשל ההקרבה שלה למען ילדיה לאורך השנים. המשתתפים היהודים הופתעו ממספרם הנמוך של בתי אבות בקרב מוסלמים ומחוסר האהדה הכללי כלפי מוסדות כאלה.

המשתתפים היהודים תיארו גם את חשיבות כיבוד הורים ביהדות, ותיארו אותו כמצווה מרכזית המבטאת הכרת תודה ומשמרת ערכים משפחתיים ומוסריים לאורך הדורות. השיחה גילתה התכנסות ברורה בין שתי הדתות בדגש על כבוד, חמלה ואחריות כלפי הורים. המשתתפים הסכימו כי ערכים משותפים אלה יוצרים בסיס אנושי מאחד, המטפח קרבה והבנה בין אנשים ומדגיש את מה שמאחד אותם יותר ממה שמפריד ביניהם.

הקבוצה נפגשה שוב, בירושלים. מאחר שחודש הרמדאן התקרב עבור המוסלמים, מוקד המפגש היה חודש הרמדאן הקדוש וכיצד נקבעת תחילתו באסלאם. הדיון נסב סביב השיטות השונות לקביעת תחילת הרמדאן, בעיקר צפייה בירח החדש, בנוסף להסתמכות על חישובים אסטרונומיים, וההבדלים המשפטיים הנלווים בין אסכולות החשיבה האסלאמיות. לעומת זאת, המשתתפים היהודים התייחסו ליהדות, שגם בה לוח השנה העברי מבוסס על מחזור הירח, ותחילת החודשים והחגים נקבעת על פי חישובים אסטרונומיים מדויקים, תוך דיון היסטורי ומשפטי סביב שיטות הצפייה והחישוב. דמיון זה הדגיש כיצד שתי הדתות מקשרות את הזמן הדתי למחזור הירח, ואת הממדים הרוחניים והארגוניים שיש לכך עבור החיים הדתיים.

 

המשתתפים המוסלמים התייחסו גם להיבטים הדתיים והרוחניים של חודש הרמדאן, חודש הצום ויראת השמים, ודנו בהשפעתו החברתית, תוך הדגשת ערכי הסולידריות, הסבלנות, המשמעת העצמית והשיתוף עם אחרים. הוחלפו שאלות וחוויות אישיות בנוגע למסורות הרמדאן בבתים ובקהילות שונות, מה שטיפח הבנה עמוקה יותר של הגיוון בתוך הקהילה המוסלמית עצמה והתפקיד שממלא הרמדאן בחיי היומיום של המוסלמים. המפגש סיפק הזדמנות ללמוד ולהעמיק בכמה מהמנהגים המוסלמיים במהלך הרמדאן, ועורר הפתעה וכבוד מצד אחרים.

اللقاء بين الديانات لمجموعة نوف تسيون وجبل مكبر - لقائين

اجتمعت مجموعة من المسلمين من جبل المكبر ويهود من نوف تسيون في القدس لمناقشة موضوع برّ الوالدين في الإسلام واليهودية.

ناقش المشاركون مكانة الوالدين في الإسلام، حيث يُعدّ برّ الوالدين من أعظم القيم الدينية والإنسانية. ففي النصوص الدينية يرتبط هذا البر بطاعة الله، مع التأكيد على الاحترام، والرعاية، والإحسان، خاصة في مرحلة الكِبر. وفي الإسلام، تحظى الأم بمكانة أعلى من الأب نظرًا للتضحيات التي تقدمها من أجل أبنائها. وقد أبدى المشاركون اليهود دهشتهم من قلة دور رعاية المسنين في المجتمع المسلم، ومن ضعف التوجه العام نحو هذه المؤسسات. كما تناول المشاركون اليهود أهمية برّ الوالدين في اليهودية، واعتبروه وصية مركزية تعبّر عن الامتنان وتحافظ على القيم العائلية والأخلاقية عبر الأجيال. وكشف النقاش عن تقارب واضح بين الديانتين في التأكيد على الاحترام، والرحمة، والمسؤولية تجاه الوالدين. واتفق المشاركون على أن هذه القيم المشتركة تشكّل أساسًا إنسانيًا جامعًا، يعزّز القرب والتفاهم بين الناس، ويُبرز ما يجمعهم أكثر مما يفرّقهم.

اجتمعت المجموعة، التي ضمّت مسلمين ويهودًا، في القدس. وبما أنّ شهر رمضان كان يقترب لدى المسلمين، تمحور اللقاء حول شهر رمضان المبارك وكيفية تحديد بدايته في الإسلام. دار النقاش حول الطرق المختلفة لتحديد بداية الشهر، وأبرزها تحرّي رؤية الهلال، إلى جانب الاعتماد على الحسابات الفلكية، إضافة إلى الاختلافات الفقهية بين المدارس الإسلامية في هذا الشأن. في المقابل، أشار المشاركون اليهود إلى الديانة اليهودية، حيث يعتمد التقويم العبري أيضًا على الدورة القمرية، ويتم تحديد بدايات الأشهر والأعياد وفق حسابات فلكية دقيقة، مع وجود نقاش تاريخي وفقهي حول طرق الرؤية والحساب. وقد أبرز هذا التشابه كيف تربط الديانتان الزمن الديني بدورة القمر، وما يحمله ذلك من أبعاد روحية وتنظيمية في الحياة الدينية.

 

كما تناول المشاركون المسلمون الجوانب الدينية والروحية لشهر رمضان، باعتباره شهر الصيام والتقوى، وتحدثوا عن تأثيره الاجتماعي، مع التأكيد على قيم التضامن، والصبر، والانضباط الذاتي، ومشاركة الآخرين. وتم تبادل الأسئلة والتجارب الشخصية حول تقاليد رمضان في البيوت والمجتمعات المختلفة، مما ساهم في تعميق الفهم للتنوع داخل المجتمع المسلم نفسه، والدور الذي يلعبه رمضان في الحياة اليومية. وقد أتاح اللقاء فرصة للتعرّف والتعمّق في بعض العادات الإسلامية خلال رمضان، وأثار مشاعر من الدهشة والتقدير لدى المشاركين الآخرين.
