Midwives of Peace- 2 encounters

January 30th 2026

We opened with a short introduction of each participant, then had a lecture given by Maya Savir, who is an Israeli author and a peace activist. Maya spoke about reconciliation, which she learnt about in South Africa and in Rwanda while she worked there for a few years. The lecture brought an optimistic view for the possibility of creating peace in conflicted areas. We later had some free time for people to chat and get to know each other.

We also gave a short history of the group to our guests, from the meeting in Beit Lehem Haglilit in 2008 up until today. We spoke about the purposes and the spirit of the group, which is a professional midwife and nurses' group. It operates as a feminist democratic voluntary group. We mentioned Sera Bonds, the founder of COHI- which we were part of in the first few years, Madre- our long-lasting financial supporter and Interfaith Encounter Association, led by Yehuda Stolov and his team, which is our local based organization. We finalized our day with a nice lunch, served as usual by the lovely team of Talita- Kumi guest house.

March 8th, 2026

The group met for a check-in online encounter, after the renewal of escalated tensions with a new war between Israel and Iran. Each participant shared how she is dealing with the situation and we wished together for quieter days ahead.
