Jerusalem and Surroundings Interfaith Encounter Group - January 15, 2026
The group met in Jerusalem for an encounter that brought together Muslim and Jewish participants. The atmosphere was rich with dialogue and interaction, and the discussion focused on the topic of religious diversity within Islam and Judaism.
At the beginning of the encounter, participants addressed the religious reality in Jerusalem, explaining that the vast majority of Muslims in the city belong to the Sunni school of thought, most of them following the Shafi'i school. In contrast, the Jewish participants reviewed the pluralism within Jewish society, which includes diverse religious and social currents. Among these are the Haredim, who are characterized by strict adherence to Jewish law and a conservative lifestyle focused on prayer, dress, and religious education, with a degree of separation from secular society. The discussion also touched upon the Modern Orthodox Jews, who maintain their religious observance while engaging more broadly in public life, combining religious practice with work and modern education. Alongside them, reference was made to traditional Jews who observe the basic holidays and rituals without strict adherence to all legal details, forming a link between the religious and the secular. Also mentioned were secular Jews who do not belong to any specific religious denomination, though some maintain cultural practices with a religious character.
During the discussion, one of the Jewish participants inquired whether the Muslim participants belonged to the Sufi tradition. The Muslim participants then explained the structure of Islamic schools of thought, clarifying that Muslims are generally divided into Sunni and Shia, emphasizing that the vast majority of Muslims worldwide are Sunni. The discussion then turned to the four Sunni schools of thought: Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali, explaining that their differences are limited to details of legal rulings resulting from diverse methodologies of legal reasoning, while they all agree on the fundamentals of faith and belief. It was also emphasized that Sufism is not an independent school of jurisprudence, but rather a spiritual and ethical orientation focused on self-purification and ethical conduct, and that it can be found within various Sunni schools of thought.
This discussion contributed to a deeper mutual understanding among the participants and highlighted the similarities between the internal diversity within Islam and Judaism, thus fostering a spirit of constructive dialogue and mutual respect.
At the end of the encounter, Muhammad added a distinctive artistic touch by playing a selection of beautiful melodies on the oud, creating a warm and wonderful atmosphere.

קבוצת המפגש הבין דתי בירושלים והסביבה - 15 בינואר 2026
הקבוצה נפגשה בירושלים למפגש שחיבר משתתפים מוסלמים ויהודים. האווירה הייתה עשירה בדיאלוג ואינטראקציה, והדיון התמקד בנושא הגיוון הדתי באסלאם וביהדות.
בתחילת המפגש, המשתתפים התייחסו למציאות הדתית בירושלים, והסבירו כי הרוב המכריע של המוסלמים בעיר שייכים למגזר הסוני, רובם מהאסכולה השאפעית. לעומת זאת, המשתתפים היהודים סקרו את הפלורליזם בחברה היהודית, הכולל זרמים דתיים וחברתיים מגוונים. ביניהם נמצאים החרדים, המאופיינים בהקפדה על ההלכה היהודית ובאורח חיים שמרני המתמקד בתפילה, לבוש וחינוך דתי, עם מידה מסוימת של הפרדה מהחברה החילונית. הדיון נגע גם ליהודים האורתודוקסים, השומרים על מצוותיהם הדתיות תוך מעורבות רחבה יותר בחיים הציבוריים, המשלבים פרקטיקה דתית עם עבודה וחינוך מודרני. לצדם, התייחסו ליהודים מסורתיים המקיימים את החגים והטקסים הבסיסיים מבלי להקפיד על כל הפרטים החוקיים, ומהווים גשר בין הדתי לחילוני. כמו כן הוזכרו יהודים חילונים שאינם שייכים לזרם דתי מסוים, אם כי חלקם מקיימים מנהגים תרבותיים בעלי אופי דתי.
במהלך הדיון, אחד המשתתפים היהודים שאל האם המשתתפים המוסלמים שייכים למסורת הסופית. לאחר מכן, המשתתפים המוסלמים הסבירו את מבנה האסכולות האסלאמיות, והבהירו כי מוסלמים מחולקים בדרך כלל לסונים ושיעים, תוך הדגשת שרוב המוסלמים ברחבי העולם הם סונים. לאחר מכן, הדיון פנה לארבע אסכולות החשיבה הסוניות: חנאפי, מאלכי, שאפעי וחנבלי, והסביר כי ההבדלים ביניהן מוגבלים לפסיקות משפטיות מפורטות הנובעות ממתודולוגיות מגוונות של הנמקה משפטית, בעוד שכולן מסכימות על יסודות האמונה והאמונה. כמו כן, הודגש כי סופיזם אינו אסכולה עצמאית של תורת המשפט, אלא אוריינטציה רוחנית ואתית המתמקדת בטיהור עצמי והתנהגות אתית, וכי ניתן למצוא אותה בתוך אסכולות חשיבה סוניות שונות.
דיון זה תרם להבנה הדדית עמוקה יותר בין המשתתפים והדגיש את קווי הדמיון בין הגיוון הפנימי באסלאם וביהדות, ובכך טיפח רוח של דיאלוג בונה וכבוד הדדי.
בסוף המפגש, הוסיף מוחמד נופך אמנותי ייחודי על ידי נגינה של מבחר מנגינות יפהפיות על העוד, ויצר אווירה חמה ונפלאה.

اللقاء بين الديانات ومجموعة القدس وما حولها- 15 كانون الثاني 2026
عقدت المجموعة لقاءً في القدس بمشاركة مسلمين ويهود، حيث ساد اللقاء حوار تفاعلي ومفتوح، وتركّز النقاش على موضوع التنوّع الديني داخل الإسلام واليهودية.
في بداية اللقاء، استعرض المشاركون الواقع الديني في القدس، موضحين أن الغالبية العظمى من المسلمين في المدينة ينتمون إلى أهل السنة، ويتبع معظمهم المذهب الشافعي. في المقابل، عرض المشاركون اليهود التعددية داخل المجتمع اليهودي، والتي تشمل تيارات دينية واجتماعية متنوعة، مثل الحريديم الذين يلتزمون بالشريعة اليهودية بشكل صارم ويعيشون نمط حياة محافظ، والأرثوذكس الذين يجمعون بين الالتزام الديني والانخراط في الحياة العامة، إضافة إلى اليهود التقليديين الذين يحافظون على الطقوس الأساسية دون التزام كامل بجميع التفاصيل، وكذلك اليهود العلمانيين الذين لا ينتمون إلى تيار ديني محدد.
خلال الحوار، طُرح سؤال حول انتماء المسلمين إلى التصوف، ما أتاح فرصة لشرح البنية المذهبية في الإسلام. وأوضح المشاركون أن المسلمين ينقسمون بشكل عام إلى سنة وشيعة، مع التأكيد على أن الغالبية العظمى من المسلمين في العالم هم من السنة. كما تم التطرق إلى المذاهب السنية الأربعة: الحنفي، المالكي، الشافعي، والحنبلي، مع الإشارة إلى أن الاختلافات بينها تقتصر على الجوانب الفقهية التفصيلية، بينما تتفق جميعها على أصول العقيدة. كما تم التأكيد على أن التصوف ليس مذهبًا فقهيًا مستقلاً، بل توجه روحي وأخلاقي يمكن أن يوجد ضمن مختلف المذاهب السنية.
ساهم هذا النقاش في تعزيز الفهم المتبادل بين المشاركين، وأبرز أوجه التشابه في التعددية الدينية داخل الإسلام واليهودية، مما دعم حوارًا قائمًا على الاحترام المتبادل.
في ختام اللقاء، قدّم محمد فقرة موسيقية على آلة العود، أضفت أجواءً مريحة على اللقاء.
