disabled selector not working?

I can't get the :disabled selector to work on IE 6, 7 or 8.  Example code is at:

Clicking on the Disable All button should turn text red and italic on the field items. 

(The table below that button is there to show that at least some selectivizr functionality - i.e. the :nthchild() select - is working, and so I have the library loaded correctly.)
