Dear idtracker.ai group,

I am new to idtracker.ai and have been trying to test this program on my mosquito larvae. I have followed the instructions trying to generate a good, clear video for tracking. ( I have attached the video Related files) However, after several attempts, I still fail to track the larvae movement using this program. (I have also attached the .log file Related files). I am not sure why this happened, could someone help me and test on their side to see if they are able to track? Or could someone let me know what other things I should pay attention to when shooting a video? Thank you!

Best,

Xinmi

Hi Xinmi,

I've checked your video and idtrackerai can't track it as it is right now. Here are 3 tips for you to improve the video quality:
  1. Record in higher resolution, or higher zoom, so that the animals are, at least, one or two hundred pixels big.
  2. Adapt your setup lightning to create a uniform background, especially around the edges of the arena where it appears darker.
  3. Use a less lossy compression format in your recording. I can see MP4 compression artifacts around your animals which make the identification harder, especially with small animals.
By improving these aspects, I think you will obtain nice trackings. Good luck!
Jordi
