Hi,

I am unable to open idTracker at all. I had it open and working earlier this week but now when I try and open idTracker the icon comes up on the toolbar to suggest its loading but then it just disappears without an error message or anything!

If someone could help I would really appreciate it :-)

Hi!

This is quite strange, we have never seen this behavior before. The only idea I can suggest is to try in a different computer.

Hello,
We are having the same problem, but we were able to open idtracker and run it yesterday. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program after it didn't work, but that didn't help. Is there any new information on this?

This also happened to me today

This happened to me as well today. I've attempted a clean installation with the same result. Any recommendations on how to correct this would be appreciated.

Thanks

We actually got it to work. It ended up being an issue with the firewall or antivirus and for some reason it just wouldn't let idTracker through or give us errors. We ended up making a new account on the computer and installed it there. When we opened the program there were a few popups asking us to allow the program and it's been working on that account since. Not sure why it worked on the new account and not on the old when they have the same level of permissions.

Has anyone found a good solution to this problem? I also can't get idTracker to open, although it was working yesterday. Have tried on several accounts, have restarted the computer, and have re-downloaded the program. Please help!

Hi!

You can try to uninstall the MCR (Matlab Compiler Runtime) and re-install it. If Windows asks you to give any permissions to it (such as access to local networks), make sure to grant all of them.

Thanks for the quick response! I tried uninstalling and re-installing, and I granted all the permissions that the program asked for. I'm running the program on an admin account (although I also tried running it on a regular user account). idTracker won't open when I double-click the icon, nor will it run when I choose "run as administrator" and enter the admin password.

Hi!

Other users had problems with the antivirus/firewall, so you could try to see if either idTracker and/or the Matlab Compiler Runtime are in the black list of your firewall or antivirus.

Hello!
I am also having problems with opening idTracker. I did everything suggested in this post but nothing worked. I also talked to an IT person at my university but she did not know what to do.
Is there a compatibility problem with the latest versions of windows perhaps? Could this be the reason of its malfunctioning?

Hi,

Could you describe what happens exactly when you try to launch idTracker? Do you get any error message? Does it react in any way? If you look at the task manager while you launch idTracker, do you see it there?

Hello,

When I double click on the icon (or run as administrator), it launches and it appears in the task manager, but it crashes before allowing me to select the video to analyse. There is no error messages at all. It just crashes before actually opening.

Hi!

I asked Mathworks about this problem, and here is their response (note that the correct MCR for idTracker is the 64 bits one):

Hello Alfonso,

I am writing in reference to your Technical Support Case #03849928 regarding 'Compiled software crashing'.

I understand that you compiled an application with the MATLAB Compiler in R2014a and that some of your users are having trouble opening it.

If they are not receiving a specific error, but the cursor changes to indicate that it is running or if the process starts but then crashes, this almost always indicates that the user has downloaded the wrong version of the MCR.'

There are a few things to verify to ensure that the correct MCR is downloaded on their machine:

  1. Since this was compiled in MATLAB R2014a, there is both a 32-bit version and a 64-bit version of the MCR. If the application was compiled in 32-bits, the 32-bit MCR must be installed. If the application was compiled in 64-bits, the 64-bit installer must be installed.
  2. Verify that the correct MCR is above all other installed MCR versions in their 'Path' System variable.
  3. Ensure that the application was actually compiled in R2014a. I know this may be trivial, but users sometimes run into MCR issues and mistaking the version number when they work with many releases of MATLAB.

To verify any of these:
  1. Navigate to Environment Variables
  2. Double click the 'Path' variable under "System Variables"
  3. Ensure that the correct MCR variable comes before all other runtime variables (if a user has multiple MCRs installed). The variable will take a form similar to these:
  • For 32-bit R2014a MCR:
    'C:\Program Files (x86)\MATLAB\MATLAB Compiler Runtime \v83\runtime\win32'
  • For 64-bit R2014a MCR:
            'C:\Program Files\MATLAB\MATLAB Compiler Runtime\v83\runtime\win64'
  1. If the variable is below any other MATLAB Runtime variables, click the correct runtime variable and click the "Move Up" button until it is above all others

Hello,
I recently had the same problem.
Probe all previous recommendations. But nothing worked for me. What was the solution? Uninstall the Driver of a recently installed webcam and voala, it worked again¡. I hope that helps.
