Hello,

I am working on learning to use the software and have run into perhaps a bug (or more likely a user deficiency).  In the first tutorial in the Primer direction is offered for using the Variation method.  Everything works fine if that method in not used.  But when I enter parameters just as is suggested, nothing at all happens when I click on “Start”.  All the other buttons (Stop, Redraw, Reset) remain grayed out.  I can change parameter values but clicking Start still does nothing.  The only way to get a plot is to un-select Variation in the Plot menu and then click Start (works fine without Variation).  Below are screenshots of how the parameters are set up and what appears to be a log (cannot copy from that window so I sent the whole screenshot).

I am running Windows Vista and the latest version of Java.  Perhaps this is a common problem…?

Any help would be appreciated.

All the best,

Bill Strauss

Hi.

Thanks for the precise report: it's a bug.
I don't have a Vista machine, but I've verified the same problem on WinXP and Linux. This seems to be introduced in the 2.x.x series of iDMC. I will fix it as soon as possible. Look forward in this mailing list and on idmc.blogspot.com for news.

Bests,
Antonio.
