I understand that Google Groups has a 10mb limit to the size of any
one uploaded file.
How big precisely is the file German file?
If the German file is only slightly above the cap, then maybe slightly
tweaking the file could bring it under.
I've done an experiment with the English file, using Acrobat 7's PDF
optimizer option. By reducing the scans from 600dpi to 300 dpi, I was
abut to bring the file size dowm from 4.5Mb to 3.7Mb.
The reduction in quality would make the file even less appropriate for
OCR conversion. But it was still quite readable for a human.
The other option would be to break apart the German file into 2 or
more PDFs. Say 1 file for the grammar, 1 for the IN-Deutsch and 1 for
the Deutsch-IN. Hopefully these 3 files would come in under the 10mb
limit.

I'm not sure where I can download the file for the German file. I'm
new to Google Books, but I can't find where you click to actually
download the books. Is that related to my location? ie Outside the
USA, some books might be still in copyright in some locales?

It's just a bit over the limit, at 12 MB. I was thinking of trying to
find a way to reduce it myself but haven't gotten around to it. I'll
send you the pdf through email right now and you can take a look at it
to see what you can do. I think reducing the dpi should bring it down
below 10 MB.
