Deploying on EC2

I'm interested in running IDH on AWS. Has anyone done this before? Is there anything I should look out for? I don't see anything specific in the docs. I’m interested in MapReduce processing. Thanks.

Hi Justin,

 

Thanks for showing interest in IDH. Yes, we have deployed and ran IDH on AWS.

 

We do not have a prepackaged AMI for IDH yet, but you can use one of the community AMI's, and install IDH on it.

The AMI we typically use is “CentOS 6.3 bashton1 x86_64”.  One thing that you need to ensure before proceeding with installation is to have the hostname consistent in all the following three files:

·        /etc/sysconfig/network/

·        /proc/sys/kernel/hostname

·        /etc/hosts

 

Also, during IDH installation,  on the “Clean Up Existing Yum Repo Entries” screen select “No” & then on “Set up Access to a Yum Repository” screen select “Noting to do..”

 

Let us know if you would like us to help you with additional details on running your hadoop cluster inside a VPC.
