What is Intel® Active Tuner for Hadoop*?

Intel® Active Tuner for Hadoop* is a runtime optimization tool that efficiently and accurately auto-tunes MapReduce properties for the best completion time. For a given application and cluster installation, the tool learns how the performance of a particular MapReduce application responds to different values of MapReduce parameters and reactively searches the parameter space to achieve performance improvement. Although the performance improvement achieved by Intel® AT varies according to the application and the underlying cluster resource provisioning, on average the tool provides a 30% improvement.
