Hi everybody!
#iDevBlogADay has been around for a while, but we have never had a
place where we can talk about it, or about us as a group. Usually the
discussion of its future has been pretty one-sided, with me publishing
something on my blog, and getting some comments either there or
through Twitter. So hopefully this group will help keep the discussion
centralized and make it easy to hear everybody's opinion.
What kind of things do I want to use this list for? Glad you asked:
- First, to get to know all the participants. Is going to be mandatory
that if you want to be part of #iDevBlogADay, you sign up to this
group. This will make management of participants a bit easier on my
side. Once people are invited, they will be assigned to the calendar.
- Second, to help with motivation. If you don't have an idea for your
next post, or if you do but got stuck while writing it, other authors
can help with suggestions. Share drafts of your articles before
publishing if you want to get some feedback. We are all here to help
you write not only more often, but also with better and more relevant
content.
- Finally for all the behind the scenes meta-discussion on how the
site works, and how anything can be improved, from the rules we decide
to follow, to how we promote it, or the design of the site itself.
You may notice that, where before I was all for a hands-off approach
to run the site, now I am trying to be more involved, and get all of
you equally engaged. Why the change of heart? I have been thinking for
quite a while now what to do with the site, and stopping all together
was one of the options. But it was not until recently that I realized
the two things I am most proud of, the ones I would add to my bio
without blushing, are Casey's Contraptions and iDevBlogADay. I think
we can do much more with iDev than what we have until now though. And
I really hope it can become a real asset for the whole iOS community
if, instead of letting it die because of my neglect, we build it
together.
