So you joined the iDevAuthors list, and soon thereafter received an
email with a username and password. What do you do with that?
- Go to
http://idevblogaday.com/v2/wp-login.php
- Enter your username and password, and you will get access to the
Word Press admin.
- Go to Profile -> iDevBlogADay, and enter the URL for the feed of
your blog that you want to use, and your twitter username (that is
used for the profile images, and Twitter links).
- Go to Profile -> Your Profile, and enter your first and last name,
your nickname (that should be your whole name), and your password. You
will notice some fields (description, URL, nickname) have been
populated with your Twitter profile info, so change them if you want
something different. If you don't change your nickname, or do the
Twitter step first, it will show up in the site when you add some
posts, and it defaults to your email address, so you probably don't
want that. The first/last name are important mainly because I don't
allow anonymous posts.
From now on, anytime you publish something on your site with the
'idevblogaday' tag (or category), it will show up in the iDev site.
For this to work your feed needs to use <category> tags, so make sure
everything is setup properly on your end (if you use Wordpress it
should work fine by default).
(***Yes, I know we are missing the calendar right now. Working on
it***)
Check on the calendar when is your turn, and publish your
'idevblogaday'-tagged post around that day. If you miss your deadline
by more than a couple days don't worry about it; you can post the next
time around (in 2 weeks). Please, do not use the tag any other time;
if your posts show up more than once every 2 weeks (more or less), I
will consider it spamming the site, and will have to ask you to leave.
Of course you can always write as much as you want on your site as
long as you don't use the 'idevblogaday' tag constantly.
If you were an author in the previous incarnations of iDevBlogADay,
you probably have old articles that should be in our archives. I
really appreciate if you take the time to go through your site, tag
the articles, find a feed that contains all these, and then go to
Posts -> Old iDev Posts and enter the URLs there (yes, you can do it
multiple times). See 'Posting your old post' in this Google Group for
tips.
If you update a post in your site, ours will not update automatically.
You can go to Posts, select the offending one, delete it, and the next
time the site updates (it happens every hour) it should grab the new
one (or you can also use the Old iDev Posts page to sync it up
immediately).
Cheers!
